@kyleforrester87 Forgive me if this is a grave insult, but I'm getting the ever-so-slight impression that you're not being entirely serious...?

@Octane Genuinely, that sucks. You've reminded me of an incident I once had on Amazon Marketplace. I ordered a "new and sealed" copy of Uncharted 2 from an "Amazon Certified Seller" and it arrived in a similar condition to what you're describing, in an Essentials box but with an old Platinum disc inside, so I sent it back for a refund and tried another "Amazon Certified Seller" and a week later, a near-identical, self-sealed, used copy showed up. Sent that one back for a refund and tried a third, and lo, exactly the same thing happened; Essentials box, Platinum disc, self-sealed, obviously used.

So I contacted this third seller and told them the story, saying that I'd be raising a query directly with Amazon and asking them to check the validity of their stock's source, because somebody was obviously having them on about all these "new and sealed" copies. To their credit, they answered in some detail, saying that all their games came "direct from the manufacturer" and asking me specifics about how to spot a genuine article from a potential fake.

In the end, I went to GAME (this country's last "official" game shop, I guess) and paid a little more, but a day later I got a brand new, Sony-sealed Essentials copy of Uncharted 2.

Today has been a terrifying day. Woke up with the most intense head pain of my life, unable to rest. Completely unable to move, shivering, everything aches, and even medication only helps a little.

Honest to God thought my body was finally having all it's injuries catch up.

@Knuckles-Fajita Maybe that's your problem! I drink alcohol to cure the pain.

Joking of course, I hope you get well soon.

SMT V is coming to the ps4!

Now that persona 5 is rumoured to be going to the switch it makes sense that SMT will come to ps4

It's sarcasm obviously, just making fun of how people fall for rumours

@Knuckles-Fajita Here's hoping you're feeling better by now, and that you manage to get some rest.

Has anyone else read Blood, Sweat, and Pixels by Jason Schreier?

It’s a book covering the development of games and each chapter focuses on a different game. I’m about halfway through and it’s covered Obsidian and Pillars of Eternity, Stardew Valley, Naughty Dog and Uncharted 4 among others.

It’s an easy read but interesting how varied it is game to game. The thing that made me mention it was the feedback for Outer Worlds so far. It’s interesting in the book how it talks about how such trailers are made with the idea of a “vertical slice” where one small section is made almost in its entirety to showcase. Some games end up almost nothing like those demos/trailers as well but it’s also nice how great feedback can galvanise the developers again.

Well worth reading.

@Thrillho It's on my wishlist. I love Schreier's writing generally and I just discovered it's being sold physically in my country as well for a friendly price.

Thanks for the recom.

@Kidfried Yeah, he's a great writer and actual journalist which is sadly a bit rare in the gaming world. It always seems out of place seeing one of his in-depth piece on Kotaku sandwiched between "the best ducks in gaming: ranked!" and "video game music performed with steel drums has changed my life" (one of these is a real article)... but I'm not sure where else he could go.

There is quite a bit in the book I already knew from his articles but it's still a good read.
