So, I am excited to be jumping on the train to London on Wednesday to listen to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra perform a selection of incredible music from some of Playstation's best games.

Just wondered if any other PushSquare community members are heading along too?

@Lovespuds Nah, I did see London Symphony Orchastra do FF6,7 and 10 a few years ago though. Nobuo Uematsu was there and came on stage afterwards. Was very cool!

Just back home now, I have to say, it was really epic and well arranged.

They covered games from each of Sony's consoles with Jessica Curry introducing the tracks.

So we had the likes of a Crash Bandicoot medley to open and then Resident Evil and Medival before PS2 was represented by the likes of ICO, Shadow if the Colossus and Dark Cloud.

After the intermission we had games like Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, The Last of Us and Journey before PS4 was represented by games such as Bloodborne, Uncharted, God of War and The Order.

Jessica Curry would interject between every 2 or 3 performances and she was brilliant, very funny and engaging. The London Choir sang a song she wrote from her game 'Everybody's Gone to the Rapture' and it was utterly jaw dropping, you can't imagine this sound is possible from nothing but the human voice, it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

Overall, I would urge anyone to go if they do it again, I am something of a video game music fan anyway, so I am hardly impartial, but I was accompanied by a pal who does not game a great deal and he was equally as blown away. It was a fabulous introduction to orchestral music (although I watch a lot of this on Youtube already) and I am definitely going again as they also do similar performances for movie soundtracks etc.

The venue itself is incredible too, you can sense the history of the place as soon as you walk in, my only gripe was the price of the refreshments, the best part of 12 quid for two bottles of cider was a little eyewatering to say the least, especially for someone from South Wales.

@Lovespuds Sounds brilliant, glad you had a great time! I'm not surprised that the power of such music, especially live, had an impact on your non-gamer friend as well.

The Royal Albert Hall is incredible. Having been an audience member and a performer there several times before, I'd even go as far as to say that there's nowhere better in the UK for such events. Sorry you got stung for a couple drinks, but that's unfortunately the nature of A: London and B: a major national (and international) venue.

@Lovespuds Very jealous of you! I would have went if I lived in the UK for sure.

I've been seeing some of the songs you've seen live in my country last year. Killzone, Journey, Rapture and Horizon were all there. Saw the show two times. Didn't have Shadow of the Colossus, though.

Loved reading your impressions, @lovespuds. Did you travel all the way from South Wales?

Hi there, incredibly, there was an audience member who has travelled from New Zealand but I had a much shorter journey from South Wales in th UK 😁

Yeah, I expected the prices so I wasn't too surprised and it certainly had no effect on the impact of the venue and the talent we witnessed, utterly blown away.

@lovespuds Who did the vocals? Instrumental and the choir mostly? Or did they by chance have Julie Elven for the Horizon soundtrack?

I get the impression it was a successful event so with a little luck they will do another one at some point.

@Kidfried
The event used The London City Choir, they performed a piece from Everybody's Gone to the Rapture without the orchestra and I would say that they performed along with the orchestra for maybe 5 or 6 pieces, off the top of my head, God of War, Horizon, Kilkzone 2 and Bloodborne incorporated the choir. I don't recall any one name being mentioned as far as vocal credits are concerned, they simply performed as an entire choir.

They were filming it, there were various crane cameras and tv cameras in use so with a little luck it will become available because I would love a copy too. If I ever spot it I will be sure to let you know 👍👍👍

That sounds like a fabulous event too, some of that final fantasy music was immense in its 8bit and 16bit form, it must have been brilliant as an orchestral score.

No official videos yet but I have noticed a few YouTube videos of the performance are appearing.

We were told not to film but I guess some people couldn't help themselves 😀, anyway here are some links:
