Topic: How do I go about getting a refund from PS Store

Posts 1 to 20 of 22

Tasuki

So I have thrown in the towel with For Honor. Plain and simple the game is broken. I can not play any mode except for VS A.I. one on one Duels which basically means it's a broken game. I can't connect to any other modes and no its not my Internet as everything and every other game works fine. It is been documented across the Web that their servers are messed up and not working properly. So I was wondering who do I contact for a refund cause I got it from the PSN store. Now if I got a physical disc from Gamestop or somewhere else I just take the disc back and get a refund.

Do I contact Sony and they will remove it fro PS4 or do I contact Ubisoft?

Thanks for any info.

I could be wrong but I think all digital games sales are final and you can't get a refund.

@Tasuki I believe you can only get a refund if you haven't downloaded the game and request a refund within 14 days. If you describe your experience maybe they'll make an exception but maybe the better solution is to wait until the game is patched a little more.

@Tasuki I really don't think you will be able to get a refund. Whilst the game maybe 'unplayable' in certain modes, its not completely broken. Ubisoft will just say they are working on a 'fix' for their peer to peer service and other issues. Its not like the Single Player is broken.

People got refunded for No Man's Sky because they felt they were sold a product that wasn't as described - not necessarily 'broken'. It was also a PR saving exercise too.

This is just one of those disadvantages to buying Digital. Had you bought it physically, you could have traded it in or 'maybe' got a refund from the retailer (depending on their policy) but Physical really needs to be 'completely' broken - ie Crashes your PS, won't load at all or similar

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

Yeah I don't think you'll get your refund, NMS was something of a special case. Of course if you email them constantly, ring them every day and bomb their twitter and facebook you might get somewhere!! Might be better to chalk it up to experience. Anyway if the problems are widespread it'll probably get better in a few months.

Moral of the story? Don't buy Ubisoft games, they suck!!!

honestly i'm not sure you can unless you can prove the game is completely broken and won't work, you best bet is to contact Sony Interactive Entertainment directly and see exactly what can be done

still this is another reason why i don't do digital, there really should be some kind of refund or trade in option for digital games and i'm sure it wouldn't be hard for them to do it either

@Tasuki Sony are known to be pretty draconian with their store policies and will not refund anything you have downloaded. If you search around you will find stories of them not refunding games added to stolen accounts and then locking the account if the person goes through their credit card company to recoup the funds, which they'll only unlock once the funds are given back to them (in the UK there was a Watchdog episode covering it, you should be able to find it on Youtube - despite what Sony said, they still do this as people still report it has happened to them).

While I'm not going to say it is impossible to get a refund, it is highly unlikely and you'd have to get a customer service member who isn't doing their job as Sony tells them to. That EULA you have to agree to when you first use your console/signed up for a PSN account basically removes all the rights they can granted to you by your governing laws over your purchases/data.

@KratosMD It's really not that big of a deal providing you know what you're getting going in. If I'm sure I will like a game and it's the kind of game I like to have on the hard drive ready to go I'll buy digital without hesitation. If I'm in any doubt I get physical. Works for me!

So I emailed both Son and Ubisoft, and awaiting their responses, I won't hold my breath. Generally I don't buy games digitally for this reason but honestly I didn't think this would be a problem. I played the open beta and everything was fine so I went digital. I have seen the stories about Sony and their refunds but I figured that was before since as I said people were able to get a refund for No Man's Sky but then again I believe some people filed law suits before they were offered a refund so yeah I am not going to go to that length.

@Dichotomy not just Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are just as bad

@FullbringIchigo Quite possibly, although I'd heard better things about Microsoft during the time Sony were being grilled for charging its users for stolen accounts. At the end of the day none of them are particularly consumer friendly, even Steam has a policy of not discussing why it banned someone's account which is pretty wrong. It kind of rams home the point that you don't own what you've bought when you get it digitally.

While I have to say that nintendo is pretty good at refunds (as long as the explanation and events are really good), I'm not really sure about Sony. More or less, if you buy something on any of the companies stores (Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft) you won't get a refund...doesn't happen that way, because if they do it for one person, others (with games that they bought through them, beat or didn't like) would also want a discount. It's not bad judgement on their part, it's just so that they have time for other customer's problems...not to sound nasty in that last statement if it came across as it. Other than that, my best thing to tell you, is the same thing that many others posted...don't buy a retail game digital, unless you know for sure that it'll be alright, or wait a few months for it to get fixed. Hope this helps!!!

@Tasuki It's probably more likely they'll run you through a drawn out fault finding process culminating with a full reformatting of your PS4 lol

@Dichotomy I know Microsoft will give yout a refund for stolen accounts. A few years ago my son's Gamertag was stolen with my CC number on file (which is why I only use prepaid cards now). The thieves managed to buy $300 worth of games which was for my rent. Long story short when I contacted MS about the stolen gamertag and that games were purchased as well when it was stolen they refunded my money no problem.

Getting a refund from Sony would be like getting a drop of blood from a stone.

You initiated the download your rights are gone, thats in the user agreement. I recall if you really nag them enough it may happem but apparently they lock your account from ever buying the title again.

So...you know...missing the days of free PS2 repairs right now.

@kyleforrester87 I went through 3 or 4 PS2s over what must have been 3 years. Might have been under warranty, not sure, but it sure as hell isnt so generous these days.
