im interested in what group of people hangs out on this forum. like, what is your age and your experience with gaming. nothing too personal, just that basic information if possible. since i have been hanging on here i get the idea its mostly teens. which is fine, but its not really my scene, anymore. im curious to know what your age and your experience with gaming. do you go any further in time before 00s??
Haha, many of us are way older actually, it's just that we act childish I guess.
I just turned 30, and I've rarely had a week without gaming since 1994. As a kid I used to always play on PC, because my parents wouldn't let me have a video game console. I did however play a lot of SNES games on an emulator in my early teens, and that's what really kicked off my love for video games. In 2004 I finally bought a GameCube to be able to play The Wind Waker on my own instead of watching it over at friend's houses.
I have love for the PlayStation and its exclusives, but honestly I have never been loyal to just one brand. Right now I have a Switch and PS4.
I was playing Rocket League at the start of LockDown and was teaming with a random player and we done OK. He / she messaged me and said wow we did well how old are you?
Wrote my age and the other person made me feel like a peado. What are you doing on Rocket League talking to kids? (bear in mind the other player msgd me)
I was like. Errrr, can we just play another game - want to keep this winning streak up.
So yeah I understand the sentiment. I wish there was a way to not be teamed with youngsters.

@Arugula If it makes you feel better, the average traditional home console gamer is around 34. I think people in the 27 - 35 range tend to be predominate on online gaming forums as well.
My age is.. unknown. I completed my first video game on ultra hard difficulty when I was 6 months old and I was brought up by three cyborg velociraptors. They call me Lieutenant Fatman and this is my story.
@Arugula hey now if you ARE a peado that’s a different story. But you shouldn’t not do something in case you look like a peado. I have every right to pwn n00bs, children or otherwise.
And if you are indeed a peado, stay away from kids online and offline and seek some help!
@Ralizah I've seen stats like this before. However feel massively in the minority in my own age group (35-50) whenever I talk about gaming in work or socialising one or two are happy to chat, the vast majority don't game. Some even think its immature. Wherever that's my own environment - Merseyside has a unique culture, I'm unsure.

@Arugula I don't voice chat unless it's with the Pushsquare crew or a couple of mates. No chance on earth!
@TrueAssassin86x Haha yes, it's strange actually - after that scenario I stopped playing online as much. Unfortunately with Rocket League you have to game with randoms as the single player against AI is too easy, once you have good experience.

@themcnoisy
A few people where I work play games but they don't like to talk about it much for fear of being seen as 'uncool'. So when you ask what they did on their days off, people either say they watched tv or they quickly change the subject, lol. Strange world that we live in.
I paint miniatures as well, I love it. Although my gaming skills are definitely better than my painting skills.
@themcnoisy 35 - 50 is a pretty wide spread, lol. Once you hit middle age, I imagine the percentage of people who are active gamers probably dips pretty dramatically.
It's also going to depend on your social circles, of course. It's not uncommon for groups of young professionals to regard gaming with something like contempt as well.
You could always lean into it. The next time some punk asks you why you're playing with kids on PSN, just tell him: "Shh, it's OK. It'll be over soon. Daddy will take care of you."
Retro gamer who started with cassette tape games brought from my local corner shop. As for the online gaming topic, if I don't know you personally that headset isn't getting used. I don't play with rando's in general unless I'm killing them in Battlefront or something. Or more accurately getting killed.
@LieutenantFatman I was hesitant talking about games to a degree in the past. Couldn't care less now (posed it as a question on the Pushsquare podcast ages ago). Hobbies are awesome and I think that attitude back in school of trying to be popular and hating on hobbies is pathetic. Also I remember being at a birthday party and declined trifle as everyone else said they didn't want any and didn't want to be the odd one out. That decision stuck with me for over 30 years. Trifle is amazing - my primary school friends were fools.
