When you play a game and you know you are on your last leg, how do you get around to completing the ordeal without getting killed especially if there no checkpoints in video games? Explain your strategies and share them with others! ^_^

Just keep trying.. the worst thing you can do is stop playing and forget the skills you've built up. Alien Isolation was quite tough in places so I played it in long chunks and pushed through the final 5-6 chapters in one sitting. A friend only plays it on Sundays and it's taking him forever.

There are games I've stopped playing near the end, such as Evil Within, and I don't see me getting back into it now without having to start again.

I've been beaten on Bravely Default though, I've saved it just before the last boss and can't go back to level up different jobs. My characters are level 99's but I guess I've been doing the jobs all wrong. I'm playing on Normal so I guess I could put it on Easy and see if I can push through with what I've got..And even use the Bravely Second feature, which seems a little like cheating.

It really depends on the game and what the parameters are. It depends on the health system and the risk/reward too. i don't have a specific strategy for all situations but a variety of different ways of playing according to the situation and game. Most games have some form of checkpoint system - even if it means having to restart the level or quite far back. In open world type games, if my health is particularly low and I need health packs, I may go explore the area before tackling the Objective or maybe find an alternative route to get to the objective - maybe with better cover.
If I am seriously struggling and consistently failing, I may watch a guide to see how someone else succeeded and try to emulate their tactics.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Nice strategies and tips guys. I would be persistent in trying and never giving up or trial and error if you will for me.

I think this is something that games have gotten better at over the years, much to the distaste of some. I personally don't have the time or patience for punishing games anymore, and will often put them down if I get really stuck. I think the only thing that makes difficulty spikes bearable is in something like Hotline Miami, where you're constantly restarting and trying again.

What's the point of playing a game without a challnge? It's better not to play at all, than play something without a challenge. I mean, what I like about games is feeling of tension. And challenge is the only thing that can give it to me. The Last of Us really opens itself only on grounded difficulty, for example. It feels like story, setting and gameplay start to be a whole only on grounded. You can't possibly have that feeling on normal. Feeling that the world you playing through is real. Or MGS, when you play it on highest difficulties, game feels so much alive. You can't have all those emotions and tension on easy.... Even story feels different, because you feel much more engaged in the process. Eh, now I understand what is the problem with your reviews and low scores for big games T____T.... I mean, in most games, playing on normal, you don't really need to understand gameplay and game mechanics. You can't really see all efforts developers put into the game,.

I tend to agree in certain situations. For me Dark Souls is just frustrating rather than fun. I am running through Advanced Warfare on Veteran though and that's not frustrating. I also beat Infamous on the hardest setting too. It really depends on the story and context for me. I tend to get bored of attempting the same thing over and over again because of the difficulty and find it can take away from the story but in other situations it can add more realism or bring a more tactical approach. I suppose its finding the balance that suits you for each game. I certainly don't automatically pick a specific difficulty for every game but try to find the balance that suits me.
