So, I know it's early but - what are your plans for the holidays? Me, I'm keeping it simple; spending it with my family and maybe going somewhere. Leaving the games alone till Boxing Day.

Your turn!

Not much, really. We're gonna have a get-together thing at a place we're renting, and then on Christmas I'll likely just be chilling with my family.

Doing the family rounds on the 23rd, 24th and 26th. For the day itself, it'll be me, my significant other and however many episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation we can squeeze in whilst burning a turkey.

Won't be much chance to play anything on the important dates, but I like to play my favourite Christmas-themed game (Batman: Arkham Origins) at some point between Christmas and the New Year. I didn't get the chance last year.

I had planned on saving The Frozen Wilds for then, but I caved and completed it last week!

Not really sure. Usually nothing big happens for me on Christmas, barring church work in the past. I think we'll just have a big dinner like every year, although none of my relatives are capable of travelling.

I also hope I can see my girlfriend. College has been kicking her hard recently, and I know she could use a break.

I'll be spending it with family, as per usual. We always have a party on Boxing Day as well where all the relatives come over and we get the drinks and party foods in (cocktail sausages, an array of sandwiches, what have you) and we just enjoy each others company.

As for New Years, my parents often do the same thing as Boxing Day, except it's at someone else's house. I tend to stay at home and invite a few friends over for some drinking games and such. We even take my PS4 down to the living room and play it on the big screen, so it's quite a blast.

Probably not the best place to share it, but i'm having some personal issues, these days I rather stay alone playing my games. It's a tradition to go to my uncles house and spend Xmas there, but I'm really not in the mood to meet with them, my cousins, etc.

So I will probably play the games that I bought recently.

@PS_Nation Ya Christmas isn’t always a joyous occasion for everyone, I think it’s easy for people to forget that, I don’t know your story but my advice would be to pop over to your uncles for at least an hour or two (maybe stay for the meal then leave?) if it’s not too far. It’s decisions like avoiding family at Xmas that we tend to regret later in life even if it’s sounds appealing at the time. If you really don’t want to meet them, try to at least call and have a short chat, it’s simply things like a nice short conversation with someone which can be surprisingly uplifting and make sure to have a Merry Christmas!

I was going start a start a separate thread for this but what are everyone’s favourite games to play at Xmas? I’m talking about games you like to replay or ones you like to save each year for Xmas?

I never have a 'Christmas' game. I end up playing whatever game(s) are 'current' to me at that time. Generally I don't buy games for Christmas so it usually ends up being the games/DLC released in the previous months. In recent years, that's tended to be CoD, Destiny etc due to the fact that these are 'current' releases and still in my console by Christmas

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

@BAMozzy I'm the same actually, I tend to play "new" games at Christmas rather than revisiting old ones, the only games I'd been interested in replaying are Witcher 3 and Bloodborne (Bloodborne could work as it has snow in it )

@Hego So snow is all that's needed for a 'Christmas' connection... Might as well play Horizon:Zero Dawn - especially the DLC. The Witcher 3 Skellige Islands are snowy too but I would avoid the Blood and Wine DLC as that is set in a Mediterranean type area and more 'summer' too. A lot of FPS games have 'snowy' maps and CoD, Overwatch and Destiny in recent years have at least gone further than most by actually having Christmas themed content too but I don't play these because of that but just because they are current to me at that time.

In all honesty, I tend to game less in general over this period because of the 'Christmas' TV and all the extra footy matches that we get. I do record a lot - especially if it has adverts but I try to keep up with it too as I don't want days worth in my backlog and footy has to be watched live. I don't actually celebrate Christmas myself, don't bother putting up decorations or all the other things associated with this season. To me its like every other day. I don't work due to disability/health so its not like an extra day off.

Therefore, I don't play anything just because its Christmas, I play whatever happens to be in my current playlist at that time and what fits in to my plans. I wouldn't jump into an RPG for example if I only intend o game for an hour or two - barely achieve much where as I could get a few MP matches or a couple of Linear based story missions. However that's the same process I apply every day of the year - assuming I am well enough to game...

well Christmas for me is normally the same thing

family gets together
open presents
yell at kids for not cleaning up their mess
put on a few Christmas movies, normally Die Hard and a Muppets Christmas Carol for the kids (my niece asked for Frozen this year but i said "that's a summer movie NOT a Christmas movie as it takes place in July, Snow DOESN'T mean Christmas)
eat
Doctor Who, although with how the series has been the last few years and where it's going i'm not expecting much of a decent episode
board games (Monopoly again, i got an electronic one this year so people can't cheat)
then i MIGHT play a game or two before i go to bed
sleep

that's about it

My top 3 Star Wars Movies are, The Empire Strikes Back, Revenge of the Sith & The Force Awakens, YEAH i said a Prequel movie WHAT OF IT?

Kidfried

@PS_Nation This is as good as a place as any. Life isn't all great all the time, you should feel free to share that too. Even in an Xmas topic on a gaming website. I don't know what's causing your issues of course, but stay strong!

My Christmas plans are the same every year, family obligations. It's no problem, as I do enjoy it a lot. Christmas is not that big of a deal over here anyway, so no presents and whatsoever for me. Just a Christmas tree and some good food.

My Christmas games are mostly local multiplayer games. I'm thinking some Mario Kart, Towerfall and the likes. Mostly, however, I don't game a lot, as I don't have a week off or anything. Like @FullbringIchigo I expect to play some board/card games too.

Regard my dear
It's all downhill from here

Quintumply

My Christmas will mainly be spent with family, so I'm not entirely sure how much gaming I'll be doing. For Christmas Day and Boxing Day, I'll be at one house or another eating ludicrous amounts of food and giving/receiving gifts, nothing too crazy

I'm flying home to London for a few days to spend time with my family. Usual Christmas stuff I expect. If I do any gaming, it will be on my brother's old ps2. My mum still has a CRT TV I can plug it into.

@PS_Nation I would go to your uncle's even if you don't want to. You might be surprised and enjoy yourself more than you thought you would. Sad to be alone this time of year. Anyway, I don't know you, of course, so you know... Have a good one whatever happens
