@JoeBlogs That's fair enough reasoning. From what I can remember the sequel is more forgiving in that aspect. Though a bigger factor is the fact it's an open world in which you'll go through areas multiple times meaning you'll learn them, and therefore be able to go through them more smoothly.
Its not a bad game by any means, but this game just feels very bland (a problem I have with the recent mario games). Notably, I can list the problems:
-Extremely generic level design as it is just randomly placed multicolored blocks and the levels are linear 3d areas.
-The Bosses in this game are horribly easy and they get recycled most of the time. Boom Boom and Pom Pom are simply genderbent versions of eachother they look identical except with the obvious ponytail on Pom Pom.
-The textures of the levels are often re-used or even re-colored and all the levels often blend together as they all feel almost exactly the same except with different environments.
I would give this game a 7/10. Even though it may look like I am looking down on the game, I actually think it is good, but I don't understand how this game gets AAA ratings all across when it just feels soulless and lacking in areas (I could say the same for other recent nintendo games like Pokemon X and the Kirby series). Super Mario Odyssey looks like a return to the times where Mario was actually GREAT, by that I mean the fully 3d gameplay where mario could move around in non-linear worlds and explore with a diverse amount of skills to complement that like in Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy. But then again, it is on the switch......... I will just wait for the switch emulator to come by to play Super Mario Odyssey.
For me the main one is Mass Effect. I got a year or so after release as a gift, and I wanted to love it. But for some reason I just found the whole thing incredibly boring. I appreciate the work that went into it, but after about six hours I just found myself bored by the whole damn thing. In some ways I count myself lucky as when the hoo-hah about number 3 and Andromeda blew up, I could sit idly by and lean back in my metaphoric chair with a metaphoric drink and watch the choas occur.
@KratosMD The same thing would go for third person shooters too, as they mostly seem to be just drab, gray, and edgy and as a result, they mostly blend together like Super Mario levels since almost all of them are duck down and shoot when the enemy is not shooting. That is why I was thinking of a game idea that is technically a third person shooter, but not in the way regular shooters function. Its more of an Alice in Wonderland inspired world rather than the generic gray gritty war zones.

I feel exactly the same with the Mass Effect series. I can appreciate the work that went into it but it is so boring. As a result I just don't get the hype behind it.

Sadly, Earthbound: Beginnings was a total snorefest in my opinion. Had it come out on NES when it originally released in Japan it would've been epic, but after playing Earthbound a.k.a. Mother 2 the original feels very dated and the only reason why I played through the entire game was for the story, just in case Mother 3 should see the light of day in the west.
Although it's not Playstation, I never clicked with League of Legends. I was living with five other people at one point and was the only one that didn't play — it was practically torture.
Come to think of it, I wasn't huge on Gravity Rush for Vita (not tried PS4). There was lots I liked but I found the combat controls a little difficult for me and repetetive. I kinda hope that the PS4 remastered version is available on Plus someday so that I can try it on a bigger screen with different controls.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@Rudy_Manchego There is a Gravity Rush 2 demo available , i wasn't sure at first but it grew on me a bit . Definitely will pick up used one day when it's about £15.
The Uncharted series never did it for me. Played a bit of 2, all of 3 and a few hours of 4. Just didn't find any of them very fun as games. Technically and graphically they're amazing but I got bored with them.
