@RogerRoger yeah and I must say that black is cool but not always that living room ready

Never belligerent but always uncompromising.

@RogerRoger This gen was also supposed to be the last one for traditional consoles and be massive flop, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to those rumours.

We are now in a world of people being offended for other people who they think should be offended, who arent offended.

@Feena Actually it'd screw with my OCD because all my tech is black, but I just think it'd be a nice way to indulge in a little nostalgia, s'all. My own living room is very black-and-white!

@JohnnyShoulder Oh, I know. I'll just use anything that helps support my case for what I want.

@RogerRoger I forgive you this time, but only this time.

Yeah I could not have non black console with my current setup, it would annoy the hell outta me. My neon switch is just about bearable and only one side is poking out from the side of the TV, so is not really noticeable.

Black. Slick. Silent. Designed to not heat too much.
With a second screen solution permitting to play your games on the go. Something better than the actual remote play.

Ralizah

@Tatoun So... a Playstation Switch, so to speak?

Because, the only other solution is streaming, as with Remote Play, and unless you live in Japan or a big city that's likely going to be a spotty solution at best (as with Remote Play).

I could see Sony keeping the rhombus shape with curved corners. With 3 PS4 models having this shape it feels kinda iconic now.

@Ralizah what would be amazing would be to have the possibility to download a lower resolution version of your game on a mobile terminal.

The design will be the most sinister-looking and coolest in the history of PlayStation. Sharp edges, spikes etc.

I distinctly don't want another generic black or white box. I miss the days when game consoles had some flavor and creativity to their physical appearance.

@Chinooker I don’t think it will be possible for a portable device to play PS5 games natively in there foreseeable future. Whether or not they’ll produce a device specifically for streaming or off TV play. I don’t think it’ll happen till the 5G mobile network is well established at the earliest certainly not anywhere near launch.

I am new here but I am wondering if this PS5 would hopefully try to do something like a hybrid with or without a console as Sony has said in their financial meeting this year regarding it. Now that Sony confirmed the remote play and cloud streaming functionality with "seamless" experience with the PS5, is it possible they can at least incorporate a tablet like ps device that acted like a remote play anywhere without a console and not just limited to Android phones and other devices, etc?

What do you guys think Sony's approach to this will be?

I do hope they go with a flat back. The rhombus shape of the PS4 family makes it more difficult to plug cable into the back than it should be.

I love the sharpness of the ps2. I'd like it look like that.
