@JJ2 That may be because they are using the same language as each other or it maybe that MS in this case is bringing some of its technology (DX12, DXR) where as Sony are relying more on AMDs own versions.

Sony may well be involved also in helping AMD develop their versions as they have a collection of Developer Studio's that can assess and help AMD improve their Vulkan and Ray Tracing elements in their PC GPU range too. MS has their own and potentially even how the APU will work with xCloud too which may require more 'engineering' than Sony's but MS do seen to be using the same CPU and GPU architecture but no doubt have aspects of MS's DX built in - therefore is not entirely AMD so 'co-engineered' instead of co-developed, co-designed etc that Sony may use.

If I had to bet, I would bet that co-engineered is because it has something from MS built in to the APU rather than completely AMD but custom designed in partnership with Sony.

@BAMozzy
Spencer mentioned a few times that cloud streaming is optimised at silicon level so theres that.

@JJ2 Whether that means at 'console' silicon or whether they mean at server (cloud) silicon, I don't know. The way xCloud was shown, it was 4 XB1s consoles stripped down to just the motherboard and combined together in just 1 'server' on a rack of lots of servers so I don't know if they are referring to that or not...

@WebHead
'goes for the Xbox Two's jugular'
Haha and then they ll probably trash gamers who take the bait and go console war. Next gen sounds beast. I just hope ps5 is at least at the same level a Scarlet. You already see fanatics going on about true Ray tracing vs faux ray tracing crap and that's annoying .

@jdv95 I agree. Streaming video games mean "They have complete control" So if the servers are down your not playing at all. At least now you can still play offline.

I think PSX will be back this december and we will get a PS5 tease, like a hype video.

I see that EA have confirmed they have stuff in the pipeline for PS5 which probably means yearly sports updates and all that but it's still good news. Excited to hear (or see!) more from Sony themselves.

Rumored reveal date is February 12th next year too.

@WebHead February 12th? Good grief, that is quick. 7 months away?
PS3 and PS4 came out in November, so I was assuming Nov. 2020. Granted, PS2 came out in March I think, but that’s been a long time ago.

@Th3solution PS3 was March 23rd in the PAL region. I remember that because I bought it at launch. You're right, PS3 and PS4 were both November in the NTSC region though so perhaps a Feb reveal with a worldwide final quarter launch.

@Frigate Oh, I misread that as a Feb 12th release date — but yes, that would make sense as a reveal date for sure.
