Topic: One feature you would like the PS5 to have

Obviously on top of everything gaming related but when we say 'feature' I feel it's in addition to gaming. So for me I'd like it be more convenient for browsing and typing etc.
The DS5 touch screen allowing to scroll in any direction and use a virtual keyboard like on phones. Also be useful in games too of course, strategy like games too. Or easily move on maps etc
I know some wouldn't like it but in other words double down on the touch pad with more commitment haha

The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.

@Frigate So even after cleaning out the fan and rebuilding the database it’s still shutting down on you? Maybe it needs some new thermal paste.
But yeah - PS5 needs to have a more reliable cooling system.

@PunkRx_Lockly It’s the next evolution after screenshots and gameplay videos — pause the game and hit the share button and select “3D model” and create a statue of your character’s on screen action. 😄

@Frigate Nah, I don’t think the child labor on the assembly lines smoke and they certainly don’t get scheduled work breaks.

Not really a PS5 feature, but something to be released at the same time: an enhanced PlayStation Store. It's impossible to access in PS4 itself, but even the Android app or accessing through a browser is not a great experience. Performance is bad, I still can't gift anyone, can't lend games for a while, and I can't believe they don't have an option to see my library.

Since I mentioned the topic, they could create a new library feature in PS5. What I'd like the most is to organize my games in whatever way I prefer (folders, categories, tags). They could also display games by cover, maybe in an animated shelf.

Integration with Instagram feed and stories. This could be added to PS4 actually, but anyway...

@RenanKJ You can already add folders on your ps4 for games and other apps.

And you say it is impossible to access the store from the PS4. It might be be a bit a slow and clunky to load at times, but saying it is impossible to access is being a bit over dramatic. The app has had a bit of an overhaul recently and a lot better than it was.

But hopefully all that will be given a bit of spruce up when ps5 comes along.

@RenanKJ @JohnnyShoulder I wish I could search my library more easily on the PS4 and just have access to the library on the app too. Same for the trophy list - I wish I could search for a game on the list. A simple text search function would be nice.

In the case of my library, since I now have hundreds of games in my digital library (thanks mostly for several years of PS Plus) of PS3, PS4, and Vita games I would like to be able to quickly access a game from a few years ago. Of course the workaround is to go to the store and search the game there and then hit the download button from there. The Vita is the worst about this. You can’t really see your library except via a download list and to scroll through that manually is horrible when you’re scrolling through dozens and dozens (if not hundreds) of entries. And the download list seems to be arranged randomly too. The more recently added games seem to be closer to the top, but that’s not always the case. Searching for a game I added to the Vita 3 years ago is like looking for a needle in a haystack. In order to see if I have a game already in my library it’s easier to just go to the store and pull the game up and see if the little button says “Buy” or “Download”.
Although we can organize the games on the HDD into folders (which is nice), it would be good to be able to organize the library also. Does the PS4 library let you do folders there? I’ll have to play with that.

As for trophy lists - it seems silly that we can’t simply search a game from the list on the app or PS4. Some of us have very long lists and it takes a while to find a game buried down there from five years ago. Also to be able to organize the trophy list would be nice. Would it be cool to see your list and lump all your Mass Effects together or all your Uncharteds? Vita allows you to look at a list of just your Vita trophies together on one list, but PS4 doesn’t. That seems strange. What if we could RPGs together, racing games together, FPS together, etc.? There are a lot of ways you could display the information. Fold this in with the length of time spent playing (which is a request I’ve seen a lot of people have) and you could show a list of trophies in comparison to time spent playing, for example.

There are a lot of untapped ideas that PS5 could try out in the store, library, and trophy lists.

@Th3solution You can search in your Library on the PS4 and there are various options for you to filter by. Not sure if that will make life easier for you as don't use it that often.

Forgive me if I am missing something with the trophy lists, but I don't quite understand what purpose that serves by being able to lump games together like that?

@JohnnyShoulder I dunno, maybe it just would mainly satisfy my OCD tendencies. And I’m a bit of a trophy enthusiast. It would just make for a easier way to peruse and look over the list. I think of it kinda like organizing my physical games on the shelf, or my awards in the display cabinet.

But mostly just because I reference my trophy list quite a bit to just see what I’ve played and when. There is value to seeing the whole thing in chronological order, but sometimes I want to see games in groups for a discussion or when deciding what to play. For example, we’ve been having a discussion over in the recent ‘Uncharted Series’ thread and so I was looking at the list to see when I played Uncharted 3 and how thoroughly I played the game, because it had been several years and my memory was thin on the details. I have all six Uncharted games from 3 consoles scattered throughout a list of a couple hundred games or so and it’s hard to go back and forth to see when and how I played each. It’s not impossible to scroll up and down, just inconvenient. Same with all the Batman Arkham games, or all the Metal Gear Solid games, or all the Telltale games, etc. I like to see them together and pop to and fro through the lists if I’m ever discussing the games. Especially when talking about a series that I played a long time ago or over a long period of time.

I think my brain is broken maybe just a little bit. 😅

@Th3solution Ah OK, that makes sense. I use the TrueTrophies and Psnprofiles.com for all my trophy shiz. Prolly could have something like that on ps5, but that would makes those sites pretty redundant.

Ability to play psp and vita games, also make the controller like the Switch, but in HD.

Can't wait for PS5!

@LaJettatura What at all?

@LaJettatura So a more accurate description of what you want is not no censorship, just a more fair system?

I just want it to play games and be reliable with a good cooling system and no crashes.

Can't wait for PS5!

Full backwards compatibility would be the biggest feature for me personally, a new console to play my entire library of Playstation games would be amazing

Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.

@Arugula Yeah it is a bit of a faff, especially if you do not have twitter.

I want quite a minimal feature but a good one none the less imo.

The ability to see how much time you have put into any game in your PS5 Library, similar to what Xbox offers, I know this works for some games but this is via diving into your save data and doesn't work for every game so would be so much better to have the ability to see it as soon as you are hovering over the application itself.

I want this so much. I love knowing exactly how much time I've wasted on games.

Will never happen, but I'd love to have discord.

Also a few other things:

  • Better front end UI (worse part about PS4 if you ask me)
  • Shop that doesn't crash when you want to view the images or video
  • Customizable themes, to include only MP3's rather than set music. Custom downloadable dynamic themes (Fan made)
  • Pre approved player mods for certain games
  • Animated avatars
  • Animated backgrounds for profile
  • Trophy room. Where you can highlight your achievements and lay it out a certain way, or have cool things that will do like a memory lane of achievements (I'll leave that to the creative people)
