There is going to be lots and lots of egg on faces of these so-called insiders when the PS5 eventually launches. I've had a good giggle at a number of "technical" discussions on various websites.
@MarcG420 it can be quite difficult for Devs to do so. Realistically we don't want to get involved in console wars nonsense, mostly because we're grown a** adults. But also because we generally represent giant corporations who are pretty much neutral on the whole thing, and having staff come out and say something that gets traction can cause way too much damage to a relationship with another platform holder. The PS5 will be fine, it's a good enough system.
@SirAngry I don’t see how correcting false rumours would be a big deal personally so long as it’s done professionally. It would certainly generate goodwill from the people who want the correct info too... win win it would seem to me.
@MarcG420 you've never worked for a big publisher have you? lol. Plus anyone who has worked with either systems SDKs has signed NDAs. You just can't talk about either freely, even MS's Hot Chips presentation left out vital information, so why bother? There's also the hassle factor. The PS5 won't struggle in my opinion this generation. Keeping both the GPU and CPU supplied with tasks on the PS5 is easy, so hitting theoretical peaks is easier this generation. Would like a tad more speed on the RAM and maybe a few more CPU clocks, but otherwise I love the PS5. For balance the XSX is really nice to work with too.
@SirAngry I’m not talking about system related correcting. More when it’s their product that’s having incorrect info being pushed. I totally understand not speaking about what you are contractually obligated to not talk about. More what they could correct should they want to clear up misinformation.
@MarcG420 what's the point? Maybe for a smaller independent studio shooting this stuff down is important, because 1) it can harm your relationship with a platform holder if they think you run a leaky ship and 2) it might harm sales of your product.
But for EA and Ubishaft? Why bother? Better to focus on delivering your games in as best a state as possible than getting involved in console wars. It's silly.
@SirAngry cheap marketing for one. Goodwill built up by good community management by a community manager can be just as valuable as a very expensive marketing campaign if done well. Look at Fall Guys teaching that masterclass since release.
I’m not taking about getting into the console wars, more like fizzling out their misinformation campaigns. For both sides.
Trust me, an employee of Ubishaft shooting down a negative rumour about XSX or PS5 would cause more hassle for their PR teams than it'd be worth. Just to let you know, pretty much every rumour, positive and negative about both systems has been laughably wide of the mark.
