The Collection is now up on the NA PS Store for the price of $59.99. $60 for 3 games is not a bad price. Think I will grab it next payday.

I just preordered it coming on Tuesday. Lovely physical box with 3/4 on one disc and 5 on the other. Should tide me over until FF7 and I still have DmCV to finish too.

@KratosMD Yep, the series is also called Ryu ga Gotoku in Japan which you probably know from the fact Y7 is known as Yakuza: Like a Dragon over here. It’s also referenced in Persona 5 as one of the movies you can see is called Like a Dragon and roughly tells the story of the first game. And now Yakuza 7 is a turn based RPG so it all makes sense now!

@KratosMD Rikiya is good fun for his wide eyed naivety in Kamurocho. The couple of side quests with him are good fun, especially the one with his tattoo.

Started 3 today. So far my thoughts are ANIKI!

@KratosMD ANIKI! No, I did get what you ANIKI meant when he's following yoANIKIu around town.

@KratosMD That’s me just beat Chapter 4. I loved those opening chapters, so much so that I’m sorta not fussed about being back in Kamurocho in the same old grey and red. Don’t get me wrong, I adore Kamurocho but it was nice to see something different and see a softer side to Kiryu. I tried to do as many of the kids’ quests as possible and they were truly brilliant as well. I guess it’s time for the actual Yakuza story now!

@nessisonett @KratosMD While I liked Okinawa, the area was pretty small and being quite long it got a bit annoying running one end to another. But definitely a welcome change after three games in the same places.

@KratosMD Yeah, I feel I need a few different games before I’m ready to go back for Y4.

@KratosMD Nice. It is cool that they have no qualms with completely overhauling entire systems from game to game which helps keep it fresh while so much stays the same.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts before I play the game this time!

@KratosMD So, you get to play as Hwoarang basically 😂😂

@KratosMD I'm not too fussed at less substories. Y3's were better thank YK2 but there were too many of them in my opinion. It sometimes felt like they were there just to bloat the play time out a bit longer.

Wow I finished Yakuza 3 there. I honestly didn’t expect it to be as good as it was, given it’s the oldest untouched one. That ending was brilliant, although maybe a bit spoiled by the fact we know there are 4 more games. The final boss fight was so much better, and easier, than a lot of the other fights that were just straight up frustration. Seriously, that stupid captain in the hospital took me about 15 minutes despite having one health bar because he kept blocking. I might go back and finish the Hitman missions before jumping into Yakuza 4.

@nessisonett Yeah, that fight is tough because you’re in such a small space. I think I did it by spamming lots of heat actions. And I get what you mean about the ending; that bit was also particularly pointless seeing as you get a cutscene a few seconds later showing him again.

The hitman missions are easier to do than the never-ending bouncer missions of YK2 but they get samey towards the end.

@KratosMD Interesting to hear your thoughts on Y4 but it further justifies me having a fair bit of time away from the series.

@Thrillho Yeah, I think I’ll take a wee break too. I played Kiwami straight after 0 and I think that affected my view of it and might be why I was pretty disappointed by it. I still have DmCV and Horizon left to finish but I’m kinda not fussed about either of them despite loving them both when I first started them. I think that’s what I like about Yakuza, you know what you’re getting and even if the main story’s not great, there’s so much else to do that you can ride it out. But let’s be honest, the main story usually is brilliant too.

@KratosMD I missed those substories too but you can complete them later in the game. I liked that lots of substories had more structure and that they cut down on the number of them.

I really enjoyed Y4 and it felt a bit fresher after all the previous games. Tanimura has the best combat of the new characters in my opinion, especially with the parry. I thought it felt shorter but it was still 60+ hours.

@KratosMD Akiyama’s kicks at the start are absolute crap but towards the end of his story I found him crazy powerful. Some of the combos you can pull off just shred through health bars.

Hammering square with Akiyama can do lots of damage. The most move for Saejima is one where you hold down R1 and triangle (I think) and he does a huge uppercut which does loads of damage if it connects but also fills his heat bar so you can then use it when the enemy is down.

Tanimura has a good range of moves and the parry move isn’t that useful until you get to boss fights where it’s massively useful. The heat action you unlock at the end of a combo also helps deal big damage.

Thrillho

@KratosMD I told you!

Kiryu has less substories I think so his part doesn’t take too long.
