Topic: Why no New Civilization games for Sony?

I know Civilization games generally don't translate well to consoles, but I have loved the series for quite a long time and now I hear Nintendo Switch is getting Civilization 6. Even the weak port Civilization Revolution was fun. Civ. is one of a few games were I would look at the clock and go "10pm ok just a couple more turns", then I would look at the clock again and it would be 3am. I'm sad to see Sony is letting this generation of Civ. Games go.

Suvh a shame really because I wanted to play Civilization VI on the PS4 since I use to play Civilization V back when I had a good PC.

I tried the demo for Revolutions once (the PS3 one), and didn't like the zoom they had so I stopped playing. I feel like Civ is suited to PC anyway honestly. I'd play it there most likely even if it came to PS4.

Maybe cos the developer/publisher doesn't think it is worth it and there is more of a market for it on the Switch.

Personally I really doubt if there is more market for this game on Switch than PS4. But they already did a port for iPad, so I can that version being ported over to Switch easier than PS4, due to touchscreen.

Yeah I’d like some of these games to come over. Same as Football Manager.

I do own a Switch, but I’ve no interest in these lesser ‘Touch’ versions.

I'm a huge civilization fan so I'd be all over this if they announced it. If Cities Skylines can have good controls on consoles why wouldn't that be possible for civilization, in fact it should be easier.

@Kidfried Switch also isn't getting very many games right now, so it might have market that's more likely to focus in on whatever does release on it.

@Jaz007 I turned on my Switch on the weekend in first time ages. In the news section it said there were 21 new games released this week.

@JohnnyShoulder How many AAA games though? Plenty of games released on the PS Store when everyone said it had no games. Civ 6 can fill a hole that indie games won’t, not deride indie games, but indies tend to not impact AAA too terribly much regardless of wether they should or shouldn’t.

@Jaz007 @Kidfried It's not that there aren't gamed on the Switch right now it's that there's games you don't want to play. It's mostly Indies and remasters of gamed that the Xbox/PS have had for years and probably like me have already played it

Right now the only reason my Switch is getting use is Octopath Traveler after that I will probably do a playthrough of Dust and I will be getting Diablo on it so I can have Diablo on the go. Other then that, nothing interests me. I hate Smash Bros and Pokemon Eevee/Pikachu might be fun for a bit but nothing I am willing to buy.

@Tasuki That’s my point. Civ 6 is new to consoles and can standout more ina market of indies and rereleased. Those games don’t have the same ring to them as a new AAA game.

I really want to play Civilization VI on console because I hate playing on PC, but I'm also waiting for a while after the Switch release to see if it gets announced for PS4. I don't really want to play it on Switch if there's going to be a PS4 version around the corner.
