@WanderingBullet: No doubt, GTA5's shooting was slugish and frustrating at times (especially inside buildings). Still, was better than the GTA's previous but I've never liked the way the characters controlled in GTA games (and Red Dead).

And you're right, the police were just too "good" in that game. I've no problem being surrounded in the city if I kill somebody but you could snipe someone up on the mountain and within 45 seconds there would be a convoy of suicidal police cars driving up a cliff edge toward you. Talk about dedication.

I was let down by the Nathan Drake Collection. As a Xbox 360 user last gen I was looking forward to the collection. Overall it was a good series. Just let down in the end.

I finished uncharted 2 buzzing to play uncharted 3 but by the time the credits rolled on uncharted 3 I was left wondering where my fantastic ending was. Uncharted 3's storyline was sorta Meh at the end. Midway I was engrossed but it just seemed to trail off. My only big letdown of this gen so far.

GTA V has a great environment but I still feel Sleeping Dogs blows it out of the water in-terms of gameplay. The controls in Rockstar games really need improved. They have been slugish for years now...

@TomKongPhooey:

To be honest, it's best to let each game breath for sometime. I love the Uncharted franchise, but I've played them back to back as well........by the time you reach 3, which IMO, has the most poorly implemented pacing out of any of the titles.......I found myself pretty exhausted and over the franchise.

the order 1886, like the gameplay but the story felt like it was a prologue. just as things start to get interesting it ends, left me wanting more. hope ready at dawn get to make a second one.

metal gear solid 5: gameplay wise its amazing best in the series but story wise its the worst.

@Ash_uk1: Agreed on mgs v - but the gameplay is so good.

I also think the 'boss battles' haven't been given the credit they deserve. All of the fights are a warped mirror version of mgs 3. In fact mgs 3 and 5 fit together really well. I love it! In fact I'm stocking it on now!!!

I'd probably have to say the most disappointing for me was MGS5, I really loved it for all the obvious reasons and the cut back story didn't have to be a problem, it's just that what story there is just isn't told very well either. I was fine with the prospect of him being revoiced, too, but I'm not sure "Sleepy Snake" is working for him. I played it for 80-90 hours up to mission 31 and now I've been giving it a break. Will finish it off soon, though.

Brilliant game for so many reasons, though.

I suppose my other disappointments were Wolfenstein The Old Blood. After New Order it was just a bit boring, though I appreciate it wasn't a full game.

And then I guess Evil Within. Some technical problems and story issues sometimes spoilt what could have been a fantastic game, though I admit I still really enjoyed it.

All in all, though, this generation has been incredible.

Id have to go with evolve I was hoping for more monsters and hunters at the start and also adding in the mass amounts of dlc at launch it was very sad when I had it on the ps4 thou I played it constantly for a good 4 months but then it got a little boring and a few weeks later I barely played it but now I've had to delete it off the ps4 because of space and since it was the game I least played I uninstalled it hopefully if I can get a 2tb hardrive this Christmas I might reinstall it and give it another shot

WWE 2K16
Less features, bad presentation and bad graphics.
I liked the action oriented combat more than this faux-simulation approach.

Top 5 Indies I'd recommend you try: #1 Lovecraft's Untold Stories, #2 Moonlighter, #3 Hotline Miami, #4 Inside, #5 Into the Breach.

@gruf69: Watch dogs I completely understand, but Drive Club? Sure, it had a disappointing launch but it's one of the best games on PS4 at the mo!

@SKC_Diamond: Evolve disappointed me too, but as I didn't end up buying it after the Beta and its ridiculous DLC, I didn't exactly feel like I could include it. There has been quite a few games that I felt disappointed in by the time the game launched and therefore didn't buy. As I didn't end up buying these I didn't feel it was fair to mention them - AC:Unity, Thief, The Order, Until Dawn, Mad Max etc
ACiv: Black Flag disappointed me too as it really doesn't belong in the Assassins Creed games. As a Prate game or a new IP - without the AC link, I guess it maybe OK but I really don't think it fits into the AC universe and philosophy. I didn't buy this either but I do have it via XB1's GWG and as its also on the PS4 I am including it here.
Advanced Warfare disappointed a lot too. I enjoyed the campaign but felt the MP was a mess. I do think it was brave of Sledgehammer to try something different but I also think it failed. As someone who has played every CoD since CoD4 as well as a lot of other FPS games, I felt the new movement this added, also broke the 'flow'. The movement itself isn't that new but better suited to those FPS games with slower TTK and generally larger maps. Its Zombie mode also felt a lot worse too because of the exo-suits. I rank this as probably the worst CoD despite the fact the campaign was generally good. Its so bad, I am very wary of 2017's CoD!
I could say Destiny's story is disappointing but I kind of had an idea of what to expect after the Beta. Once I reached the point of opening up the 'end-game' though, I realised the design decision of those missions and understood why it wasn't as deep and rich or designed in the same way as 'Halo'. It serves a very different purpose to traditional SP campaigns too and as the game is by far my 'most played', its difficult to include this.
I must admit I do have fears over The Division too. Originally this started out as one of my most anticipated releases but the more I have learned and watched, the further it has dropped - I hope I am wrong about it though.
Whilst I know there are a number of games that I view as 'disappointing', there are a number of games that have exceeded my expectations (Witcher 3 - I loved the Witcher 2 but this is on a whole new level of great, Destiny - I never expected any game to keep my interest for over 2,000 hrs - the visuals in many are still mind-blowingly good - often in the little details, lighting effects etc, atmosphere etc) and I have had some great gaming moments on my PS4. There are a lot of games I am really looking forward to as well - most notably Uncharted 4 - the E3 demo as well as the extended version blew me away and Horizon: Zero Dawn - my most anticipated new IP...

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
