@JohnnyShoulder Nice one. I'll have to give them a try. They're mostly the cheapest on price comparison sites, too.

Did another wave of pre-orders yesterday. The only items I've got outstanding right now are Astro Bot (digital) and Kingdom Hearts 3, so I figured I'd get some more in to fill the gaps:

Red Dead Redemption 2
Darksiders 3
WWE2K19
PlayStation Classic
Persona 3 & 5: Endless Night Collection

I've stopped buying the yearly sports games, but this years WWE is a must buy for me with the Daniel Bryan showcase mode. Could see myself beating that mode and immediately trading the game in though. I was also able to secure the PlayStation Classic from GAME (rewards), so I'll be cancelling my amazon preorder.
Think I'm sorted for the year.

@FullbringIchigo
Where on earth do you find the time to play all these games? 😂

@JohnnyShoulder i pick one to spend most of my time on and stagger the rest for those times when i just want to play for a little while, such as before i go to bed

this does mean i get quite a few more games on my backlog pile though but i'll get round to them eventually

plus fighting games are easy to just drop in and drop out of

I'm thinking about buying Hollow Knight as it's got a healthy 20% discount if you pre-order it but I'm just not sure on it. I prefer Dead Cells but I consider $25 to be too much. Has anyone played any of these? Any opinions?

Besides, I have AC Odyssey pre-ordered.

@NecuVise Hollow Knight I played on Switch. It's a great looking game, nice animations as well. Don't let the indie looks fool you, it's quite a long and difficult game. I was expecting a palette cleanser game, but I actually never beat it yet. No I just wait for it to come to PS4.

It's really a cartoony Bloodborne: fast combat, very slick and gloomy and a lot of secrets.

I have played Dead Cells only for a bit, over at my brother's place. Very cool game, from what I gathered in that short amount of time.

I would recommend Hollow Knight in a heartbeat though. It's got way more content, so it will be definitely more bang for your buck. Also, while Dead Cells is cool, I don't think anyone will name it as GOTY contender (but that's only based on my short time with it), Hollow Knight was in quite some GoTY discussions last year. It's just the more memorable game imo.

That wasn't meant as a slight to Dead Cells, because I can't wait until that game is in a decent sale soon.

@Kidfried I haven't played any of them but just by watching videos, I'd like to play dead cells more because it looks more fun and doesn't require as much time investment as hollow knight. Well, in the end I'll grab both. Hollow knight now and dead cells probably on black Friday or around new year when we get some decent sale. @JohnnyShoulder I've already read that thread but it's not informative for me as I already know I want to play dead cells, but not sure about hollow knight. Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll go for hollow knight now and sometimes later for dead cells.

Kidfried

@NecuVise If you rather play Dead Cells now, than I would play Dead Cells!

Also, the first hour of Hollow Knight I wasn't convinced yet, by the way. Takes quite some time before it gets really good.

NecuVise

@Kidfried dead cells is twice the price of hollow knights and I just can't justify spending so much on it right now, that's why I've delegated it for future sales and bought hollow knight now I've read that you need to invest some time into hollow knight so I'll keep that in mind. Any other tips for beginners?

NecuVise

Kidfried

@NecuVise You've played Dark Souls/Bloodborne, right? So you'll pretty much know the most important basics. Besides that, invest in maps and pins.

Kidfried

Thrillho

@NecuVise I've played Dead Cells and not Hollow Knight. The former is made interesting in the fact that it's a relatively short game but you will be replaying it over and over in order to level up enough and get good enough gear to make it all the way through. I've had 40+ runs and not yet defeated the final boss. The levels are randomly generated and there are multiple paths to take so each run is different.

Hollow Knight seems to be a tough game but with a set world and story so they seem to be quite different games but just with tricky combat.

Thrillho

NecuVise

@Kidfried yes I have. Thanks, I will!
@Thrillho that's exactly what lures me to dead cells. Tight combat and that you can play it in short sessions if you don't have plenty of time.

Now I'm really pumped to play hollow knight, can't wait. Only 24 or so hours till it's playable.

Dakar 18 and Ride 3.

Update: I have also pre-ordered Call of Cthulhu, after finding a great deal in a local online store.

I'm warming up towards Red Dead Redemption 2, so maybe that one as well. I know I will like it more than Spider-Man, Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed. So it could be my next non-racing AAA game. However, I'm also really into the new Dragon Quest.

Update 2: traded in my copy of God of War (2018), which I won't be finishing anyway, for a pre-order of 11-11: Memories Retold, a narrative-based game arriving in early November.

I've got Sakura Wars and Ghost of Tsushima CE on pre-order. Sakura Wars looked pretty interesting and it's got a lot of different social stuff to do with an interesting choice system, one that's timed so I hope it's deeper than the typical pick an obvious route visual novel stuff. And honestly, the more I look at it's beautiful cover the more I feel it wasn't a bad idea. It also comes at a decent time between P5:R and GoT.
I probably shoudn't have gotten the CE of GoT since it's so expensive, but I'm such a massive Sucker Punch fan and the game looks better and better with everything I hear about it. And the stuff it comes looks really nice so I crumbled and decided to go ahead and pre-order that $170 monster.

Final Fantasy VII Remake - Deluxe Edition (PS4)

I preorder maybe one brand new physical game a year (everything else being digital or on sale months down the road). This is going to be that game for me this year.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

PSN: Ralizah

Ryall

Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen
I really enjoyed the other two games in the series. I normally only pre-order about a week before the release date but this was massively delayed a few days before it was supposed to come out.

JohnnyShoulder

@Ralizah Same here on both counts, just the digital deluxe edition for me.

I did go crazy one year and order about 5 or 6 games, but ended up hating most of the games so that kinda put me off, especially when the game is an unknown quantity.
