@Quintumply: I am at chapter 20 (I think) and its incredible (so far). Playing through on Hard and trying to get some of the 'Trophies' has been quite tricky - lots of restarting 'encounters/checkpoints' to attempt the trophy requirements. I have done the MP introduction - which is a trophy and will no doubt try and get the MP based ones too - not that it should take too long. I doubt I will go for the platinum though - its the Speed run one that puts me off - why blast through a game like this, that looks that good? Maybe I will eventually but its not important to me

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

@BAMozzy: There's currently a glitch for the speedrun trophy (though a new updatemight have changed that) start new game on a separate save then when the game starts, quit to main menu then select chapter select and go to the "very" last chapter. Play through it, wait for credits to finish then the trophy should pop. It's cheating I know but free trophy!!!

Finished it. Without a doubt Naughty Dog's best work. I could've done without the epilogue I think but I understand why they did it and it was still enjoyable.

I think I've just played through the epiprologue. And I actually enjoyed it. It was a clever way of introducing the controls to new players, and chapter 4 was pretty awesome on its own.

@get2sammyb: I dunno, I appreciate that it provides a greater sense of closure but I liked the 'first' ending as it mirrored their relationship in chapter 4. The epilogue felt a little like overdoing it to me, but it was still good.

@octane the epilogue is the very last chapter so I doubt that's what you're talking about

I want to talk so much more about this game now that I've beaten it but I'm going to wait until it seems like more people have. I'll just say, while I'm not sure where I'd rank this yet, it's on par with Uncharted 2. I love all the games in the series, Golden Abyss included, but these two stand atop the list. And in terms of Naughty Dog's games in general, this is right there in the top 3 with TLoU and Uncharted 2 (I know a lot of people love the Crash and Jak & Daxter games, I'm a fan but find the new ND games to be much more my speed). There are a few chapters in this that really struck a chord with me. Very early, where there is a lot of fan service for those of us who love this series and have been with it from the start, and Chapter 16, that's actually my favorite in the entire series. Once more people get done with the game I'd like to know what they thought of that chapter.

@Gamer83: Chapter16, The Brothers Drake, is a nice little chapter and reminds me a lot of a chapter in Uncharted 3. I a sure you can guess which one but I won't say and 'spoil' it for others that may not have reached this far. I can't say it was my favourite but I did like the level of detail and a few nice touches - one in particular that showed up again in the epilogue.

I had wondered about starting a 'spoiler' thread - a place to discuss openly the story etc without having to be 'careful' what I say.

A few things 'disappointed' me about the game and story and I missed a certain aspect that was present in the previous 3. I also didn't think the platforming, in particular the ability to jump backwards off a ledge onto another ledge behind him was as 'responsive' or easy to pull off as in previous games - the amount of times Drake didn't do what I wanted in that situation leading to alerting enemies was annoying. The improvements made, the level of detail and 'WOW' factor though outweigh those disappointments and I can certainly say its an incredible game. I would have 'preferred' a certain aspect - especially one I associate with the franchise that's missing from U4, something I kept looking forward to and hoping would appear in the final chapters, and when it didn't left me thinking 'is that it?'. What happens beyond the last 'boss fight' though was a quite possibly the 'perfect' ending for Nathan Drakes adventures.

It will be interesting to see what they do now for the 'story' DLC - I have no interest in the MP DLC. Depending on how much they charge for it - assuming it can be purchased individually - will depend on if/when I get to play it.

@BAMozzy:
Given this is the first time Naughty Dog has gone the story DLC route with Uncharted, and with this being the conclusive entry, I'm interested to see how it goes about this. I thought The Last of Us: Left Behind was very well done so we'll see what happens here. I think we already know who Nathan is, the DLC is a perfect opportunity for some other favorites to get a chance to shine and get some more context, though that might annoy people who loathe post-release story expansions.

@Gamer83: Thinking about the events in the Epilogue or even the 'post-boss' dialogue between certain characters, there is a couple of possibilities for 'story' DLC that's in keeping with the franchise and events of U4. Both set-up that possibility of adventuring in some capacity - I think the Epilogue sets up something more akin to the Chapter 16 whilst the other could be more akin to the majority of 'Uncharted' style game-play - inc combat. If they use the main focus of the Epilogue, that rules out 'combat' - at least I would think it would. Of course they could do some form of 'prequel' DLC with any number of the characters - inc some of the 'bad' guys or even some of the characters we read about in the journals.

I think I want another character, but no matter what, I'm looking forward to it.

@Gamer83: If you think about the post boss fight dialogue - in particular what happens with Sully, that leaves one option for a different character as well as the lead character in the epilogue and the events of that would also give rise to a different character.

Sam goes off with Sully so we could see a DLC focussed on Sam as the lead although that could be similar to Nate. The other option could be Cassie. Depending on if they focus on her as a 'child', in which case I expect something more like Chapter 16 or as an Adult, which could be the direction a new Uncharted could go IF ND ever want to return

I think what I'd say about the game is that it sums up the saying that "the journey is better than the destination". The overall story and how it wraps up, in terms of the core treasure hunt thing, is actually pretty damn anticlimactic in my opinion. It's at its best at the points when Nate and Sam are piecing it all together, yet the closer you get to it and the nearer to the climax, the less it seems to actually deliver on anything. It just kind of ends because, well, it has to end sooner or later. There's also a real lack of a kind of payoff, twist or revelation. It ended how it seemed it would with no extra layers of intrigue or information.

That said, all the parts getting you there were great. Learning about Nate and Sam's childhoods, investigating that house, getting a feel for the characters... That was all fantastic. I won't mention specifics but the epilogue was also very, very good and emotionally charged. Brilliantly written stuff.

One thing I wanted to ask, it's the reason I'm posting actually, is what about that nameless pirate? You know at various parts, they refer to the group of pirates but a couple of times Sam says he can't remember the name of one of them. It seems to go beyond just making that one puzzle slightly more cryptic.

One thing I was anticipating was that the nameless pirate was actually related to the Drakes. There was also the thought that since their last name is really Morgan, and Henry Morgan is another famous pirate, it could be him. Thing is, Henry Morgan died before the Avery stuff referred to in the game happened, yet they could always do the old "he faked his death" trope. Not to mention, it'd be really odd if Sam forgot a pirate's name who has the same family name as him - still not entirely out of the question, though. Either way, that nameless pirate thing really stands out to me and I really expected it to be part of an endgame twist.

Ok. You CAN play crushing first playthrough. You click on it and it asks you if you're sure then just press it again. I'm on chapter 10 and loving it on crushing.

I have just jumped online for the first time since playing the BETA and what have they done? It is so unbalanced and it does not feel smooth any more. I was just in a match with 3 (yes 3!) machine gun welding buddies in one small area. How is this fair ND? I hope they tweak a few things like limiting the number of buddies on screen at once.
Oh well, back to the SP for now

I just did a level on Crushing but it still says the highest difficulty I've done the level on is Hard. I didn't use cheats, although I've heard from numerous sources that doesn't interfere with it anyway.

Also, even though I completed it earlier, if I go to Chapter Select, I can only select from the first 20 chapters. It still lets me go into the Bonus menu and pick the various things in there, though. So it seems to think I both have and haven't completed the game. Something seems to have gone quite badly wrong here. My stats also keep changing, like sometimes it says my total playtime is only 2 hours, others it says 19 hours.

I always enjoyed the co-op in Uncharted more. I'm looking forward to that.

How exactly do you earn points to unlock bonuses to use in Story Mode? I completed the story on Moderate difficulty and noticed that I had 388 points during my second play through.

Huntin' monsters erryday.

@WanderingBullet: Points are earned by finding all the collectibles.
