Topic: Uncharted 3 is somewhat.......annoying so far.

So during the last few months, as they appear on PSNow for my PS4, I've been going through the Uncharted series (previous 360 and Wii gamer during the last gen). I also recently completed Golden Abyss on the Vita. My opinion of the series is pretty high, Uncharted and Golden Abyss are good games, Uncharted 2 is great.......but so far, Uncharted 3 is just somewhat annoying (but mostly enjoyable)........I will caveat that I've only reached the part where Drake is drugged in Yemen thus far. Let's get rid of Elena as well for Chloe (less annoying, hotter).

The puzzles and walking dialogue sections break up the pacing of the game in a negative manner, something that Uncharted 2 balanced more elegantly (although some parts of the later proto-Nepal sections became tiresome). Another complaint of the game, in line with the above, is that the combat sections are very predictable, not that they aren't fun, bit everything seems to run in the order of dialogue and exploration.......puzzle or trap......inevitable combat. Also, Drake just seems to move in a more sluggish manner in 3, maybe it's just me..........writing so far, is a bit sub-par compared to 2 as well (although Sully is as likeable as ever).

Technically the game is excellent, and I'm still having fun, but so far it's the least enjoyable title of the series for me (to include Uncharted and Golden Abyss).......dunno, maybe it will pick up.

I played about two and half more hours of it tonight......past the Yemen market place drugging scene.......I probably have a bit of a "foot in mouth" syndrome because the game has picked up quite a bit since that point.

Personally I really enjoyed it. I had fully completed it before it was actually released due to getting the game early and not really played it much since due to completing the story. I did try the new (well it was new at the time) patch the changed the combat back to the more familiar version of the other Uncharted games but didn't find any issue with the new style. I enjoyed the story itself and still maintain its one of (if not) the best looking game on generation 7 consoles. Everything I expect from an Uncharted game was there.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

It felt like how Alien 3 was to Aliens. I personally really liked Alien 3, but Aliens was obviously better.

Huh, I really enjoyed 3, picked it up right away and smashed through it in a day or two. While it might not stack up against 2, it's miles better than the first game, and Golden Abyss.

From 16/08/15 I’m going for sober for six months to raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice. Donations can be made here and anything you can offer is greatly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Butler5

Wish me luck!

I think 2 is the better story too. 3 I think lacks the 'surprise' and 'length' of earlier games - by that I mean we are familiar with the exploits of Nathan Drake and in some ways it seemed more a showcase of what Naughty Dog can achieve on a PS3 at a time when people where thinking that the xbox 360 was better - at least for multi-plat games (running smoother, easier to programme for etc - multi-plat developers seemed to be struggling to get the best performance from the PS3 architecture) and length because it seemed to be the shortest story - maybe because of the MP options.

I can't compare it to Golden Abyss due to not playing it - I hope an Uncharted Remaster comes to PS4 with this included for that reason but I would certainly play through the trilogy again.

I've always thought that Uncharted 3 was the best Uncharted game. In addition to the improved melee, graphics, and whatnot. The just liked the story and tone better than 2. I don't think 2 had as good of a story as most did, it was a really good one though. It's just better overall. The set pieces were better than 2's as well.

Of the 3 games I vastly prefer 2, followed by 1. I understand that after 2 set the bar so high it was hard to follow. I prefer the dialogue and setpieces in 2 as well. The parts about Drake's past could have been much more interesting. Never played the Vita one.

But the fact that 3 has local co op has made it a staple of my gaming sessions with my bro. He is never one to play hard games, but he insists in tackling the Co op Arena missions even on Crushing, after beating them on Easy and Normal.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Uncharted 2 is hands down the best one IMO.

It's skippable, but fun nonetheless.

Yeah, Golden Abyss and Uncharted 1 kinda have the same tempo and vibe (lots of shooting in pretty much a jungle only enviorment).....and the writing and dialogue are a step below Uncharted 2 and 3 for both titles. Still, both are very fun games.

Always felt that uncharted 3 ended really abruptly. Just when it was about to finally start getting good.

I always thought it was pretty bad compared to the other 2 games in the series

The baddy's were lame IMO. That Helen Mirren lookalike was boring. Also, more Elena Fisher and less Sully would have floated my boat.

While I liked 3 and thought it was closer to 2 in terms of quality than most people do, I don't think I could agree with the set-pieces. 2 is much more memorable to me - and I think it may have my favorite opening sequence of any game ever. That and when you finally realize that you're halfway through the game and currently riding on a train...

I really liked uncharted 3. I thought it was the best installment of the series. I enjoyed playing as drake as a kid. But the level with the water and 1/2 sunken ships was very cool. I played them all, but enjoy them in reverse order. 3, 2 & 1.
