Topic: Tomb Raider easy mode is not easy!

Why did the developers call it the easy mode in Tomb Raider? It absolutely is not easy. Can’t even stay in cover during battle to plan things out constantly get explosives thrown at me forcing me out and get killed. Being outnumbered 25 to 1 and get killed in like 2 hits. The on screen button to press appear for not even a second hardly giving me time to react then I get killed. This is not easy mode and I cannot imagine what normal mode would be like. The reviewers should have given lower score for this deception. I just hope Rise and Shadow fixed these problems. Not everyone is that great at video games.

@Don Normal mode was like a brief visit to a petting zoo.

I don’t remember which mode I even played TR in but I don’t remember it having Soulsborne like difficulty. 🤔 Sometimes a certain game or genre just seems harder for a person’s playstyle than another.

It is interesting in a wider discussion to consider that easy modes are not more comsistent across games. Usually a developer makes normal mode to be accessible yet providing some challenge, but I find sometimes normal is too hard and sometimes its too easy. The larger my backlog, the more I have gravitated toward playing more on easy mode sometimes.

If you input up, down, left, right, a + start on the main menu it unlocks the "true" easy mode.

Sounds like someone needs to git gud lol 😉

Damn my spell checker does not like 'git gud'

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Like most here I didn't have any trouble playing through this game at all. But perception of difficulty can differ wildly per person.

Only advice I can give you: try to stay calm, don't stress out over dying and try again, because the satisfaction when you succeed can be so sweet. And after some time, you might just 'git gud' at the game, who knows?

I can imagine that's now what you need to hear now.

@Don I can totally understand where you're coming from. I'm alright with certain genres of games, but stick me in some others and I'm hopeless, and it has absolutely nothing to do with this "git gud" nonsense. Enough capability will come, but it'll take time and patience, so the very best of luck to you. Fingers crossed you're able to get through Tomb Raider eventually (although I stress that actually crossing your fingers whilst playing probably won't help; it was just a figure of speech).

The good news is that, at least for the forthcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you can alter the difficulty for every gameplay element. You'll be able to put combat on easy and still find the exploration and puzzles challenging, if they're the gameplay elements you're more comfortable with.

@Don It was sometime ago but my advice would be that if you are struggling (which is fine), check out gameplay or Walkthroughs on YouTube. It might give some hints and tricks etc. I have played games wrong sometimes then checked and I was not using a core mechanic.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
