I can also vouch for Valiant Hearts and Transistor, excellent games. Don't usually go for stuff like Transistor but ended up loving it. Fantastic soundtrack.

Transistor is awesome.

As for Rime...I got it downloaded, but I don't know when I'll get to it. I think the common consensus is that it's a 7/10 game. Got SOTC and Zelda BOTW to play before it, so it may have to wait for a long, long time.

After about 4 hours in i have found Rime a nice surprise. I knew nothing about the game except from the review video i watched here after it became a Plus game. I like the look and colors of Rime. The puzzles are fun, but maybe too easy for some.

Also i am enjoying that Rime has very simple controls and no inventory to fiddle with. Definitely a nice break from the inventory management most game i play have.

@NoCode23 I'm about four hours in too. And I can relate to your impressions! I agree the puzzles aren't hard at all, but the pacing of this game is so good that it never feels boring.

There's a lot of things about this game I feel are really well designed. The game is linear, but it doesn't feel like it's holding your hand or pushing you into a direction. There's a lot of collectibles, but you don't feel forced at all to get all of them and they're hidden in really good places. It never feels unfair, but they're not too predictable either. It just... rewards curiosity.

Naughty Dog can still learn a lot from that type of design.

Finished the game by the way... and immediately a second time for the plat.

A lot of reviews (and impressions on the forum) mentioned the puzzles being too easy. But I think the game doesn't want or need to be challenging. I kind of liked that about Rime, and that's coming from someone who loves puzzle games. The game is more about its beautiful world and the sense of exploring stuff.

I should put "exploring" within quotation marks, by the way. You're free to look at everything at your own pace, but the game is linear. Quiet like playing Journey, like @Octane mentioned.

Technically the game isn't great. Frame rate stuff, some awkward camera and movement; the classic shortcomings. It doesn't really distract too much from the experience and never really gets in the way.

What I do think the game has going for it, is its warmth, for lack of a better word. From its first seconds until the credits of the game, it's clear Rime is a passion project. The art, the story and even the animals in every level, it's clearly a game of love. The game gets an easy recommendation from me!

Oh, and I think @Quintumply did a perfect job of reviewing this game here on Push Square, way better than most reviewers.
