@RogerRoger Yes! I love the droids... I play officer as my main class and the first time I heard "Good luck turret!" I just burst out laughing. My friends in the party were wondering what was so funny. And sometimes their side comments while running around are just hilarious. Like on Naboo when you enter the throne room.

Yep, I wish you would get rewarded more for winning. It doesn't seem to reward the team that wins any more than the team that loses; especially if you defeat, say the MTTs before they reach objective. I've done it a few times, and on Hoth but didn't see any more reward for it. It's not hard to do if you are in a good squad and call out when their shields are down. Unfortunately, there are just too many blueberries running around not paying attention to the objective.

So big surprise EA has announced that loot boxes are coming back due to the game underperforming. At this time last year Battlefront sold 15 million copies Battlefront 2 thus far has sold 9. Just another reason that we can't trust EA.

@Tasuki They did always say they would be coming back to be fair. Kind of surprised it took them this long to be honest.

@Tasuki They actually only sold 7 million copies.

@kyleforrester87 They probably figured that they could use the low sales as a reason to bring them back now. Ironic considering that the loot boxes are probably the reason for the low sales.

I enjoy this game, but it is so poorly managed to the point of being insulting.

I play this off and on when I need to fulfill my Star Wars itch, but it has only recently come to my attention how fun playing Heros/villains can be. The main reason is I am bad at this game. I usually range in the bottom third when a match is finished. My star cards are not maxed, but I know they wouldn't help much. Due to my horrible skills I rarely if ever get to play a Hero/villian. That is until this past weekends event. All heros are available and the cost to use them is greatly reduced. I was able to then play as them. Even with my poor skills it was fun. So the question is, why isn't this method the norm? I understand yes get better and then you can be the first to use the heros, but I doubt I will ever get that good with my casual play and it takes little away from the hardcore gamers.

@Tasuki Sorry about that. I was worried using this thread would be considered necroing.

@Elodin You've hit upon the one reason why I often don't play online multiplayer games; their mechanics are frequently geared towards rewarding the good players and subjugating the bad. I'm a supremely-average player. Like you, I rarely get to play as a Hero in Galactic Assault, and have taken to playing Heroes Vs. Villains for a guaranteed way of levelling them up and working towards certain trophies / challenges. I think this weekend's change (which I didn't get to try, although it might still be live today so I might give it a go) sounds like a positive one, and certainly much more fair.

I sometimes get to unlock a Hero in Starfighter Assault because I'm better at that mode than running and gunning, but it's infrequent. Also, the larger, more obvious Hero ships (like the Falcon or Slave One) tend to become immediate targets, meaning you're always running away from half a dozen attackers, watching your health like a ticking clock. It makes something that's supposed to feel cool, just feel frustrating.

Part of me preferred the token system from the previous game, where you'd just run to find a pick-up for the chance to be a special unit and / or Hero. That led to some spawn racing, but everybody was the same speed, so it definitely felt fairer.

There is a chance DICE have listened, though, because on the upcoming Geonosis map, the massive AT-TE tanks are gonna be dropped into the fight empty, and whoever gets to them first is able to jump in and pilot them, and many of them will be dropped periodically throughout the match in different locations. That's a little more "classic" and I'm certainly looking forward to being able to stomp around as a near-certainty, rather than hoping I'm good enough to qualify before the entire spawn screen fills up with "Max Number in Play" grey blocks.

@RogerRoger Nice to hear about the Geonosis map. Hopefully DICE will see a bump in play for galactic assault from this last event and make it a more permanent option.

@Elodin Stranger things have happened. Fingers crossed!

@RogerRoger I’m glad they’re just dropping them in the map. The other good alternative is to do it like Battlefield and make it so you spawn as a vehicle and you can do it as long as a slot is available. I agree that it’s not the best way to punish you for trying but not being the best. Dying a lot does that already.

For anybody interested, on November 28...

It kinda feels like, one year later, they're trying to almost re-launch the game. Previous update trailers have only focused on new content, but this one has a brief overview of everything. Maybe there'll be some decent Black Friday deals out there and they're hoping it'll get people playing.

Oh, and STAPs. Finally!

@RogerRoger yeah i watched that yesterday and i like Obi Wan and all but not sure if he is enough to get me to reinstall the game, 90gb's is a lot of room after all

RogerRoger

@FullbringIchigo I'd imagine Geonosis pushing it closer to 100Gb, actually. It looks like a vast map with tons of new assets, and the gameplay also sounds pretty complex (to the point where I hope it's playable separate from the already-extensive Galactic Assault map loop).

@Elodin Anytime.

@JohnnyShoulder I reckon clickbait.

When you watch Star Wars on Blu-Ray, you can see the incredible level of detail in the CGI (which, in many places, is built around practical models and stunt work) and it still holds up in terms of cinematic quality. Meanwhile, all of the trailers for Battlefront II have said "game engine footage" but they've been heavily tweaked and optimised, so they're nowhere near what the final game actually looks like in motion, even on PS4 Pro.

Comparing that optimised trailer with grainy, compressed YouTube versions of Geonosis? Sure, maybe the article has a point, but then that just speaks to how few people watch Star Wars on Blu-Ray compared to how many just watch key scenes on the internet every now and again.

But I'll happily come back here and eat my hat on Wednesday if I'm wrong.
