@KALofKRYPTON Yeah. It's pretty good fun to be honest, but nothing that'll keep you going back again and again. Maybe a couple times a fortnight if you really like it. I haven't actually played it in months now, though.

@KALofKRYPTON I can be online for a couple hours this evening, if you'd like? Unfortunately I'm away tomorrow and Saturday, but should also then be free Sunday and most of next week (when we're not uniting the Three Edgelords of the Apocalypse, that is).

No worries if you'd rather figure it out (Han) solo, though.

@RogerRoger I'll probably be about later on. You'll even be able to see if I'm online! Does BF2 play nice with party play?

@KALofKRYPTON No idea. I'm a loner, remember?

I think one of the recent updates allowed for Squad Spawning and the ability to stick together with your PSN friends or other folks who are in Party Chat with you.

@KALofKRYPTON Answering you back over here now...

Credits are just cosmetic now, yes. You can use them to buy character skins, emotes and victory poses. You used to need them to unlock new heroes, but DICE wisely made them all free a couple updates ago. Everything that can be purchased with credits can also be purchased with crystals, which are a currency you can buy in bundles, with real cash, from PSN.

Most new character skins are around 15,000 or 20,000 credits but are then tiered, with more elaborate or popular skins reaching 80,000 credits a pop. The best of these is Princess Leia's Boushh disguise from Return of the Jedi, which is understandably expensive as it also switches out every emote and voice line to the alien language she speaks when under the helmet. Be warned that if you're unlocking a certain type of, say, Clonetrooper armour for your Assault class, you'll also have to buy it separately for your Heavy, Officer and Specialist classes (because EA, naturally).

I was pleasantly surprised to see the new Battle Droid skins be only 5,000 each, with their Legendary tier being 20,000. There have been previous fluctuations in pricing, so values may go up or down depending on timed events or general updates to the game.

All weapon modifications are unlocked by performing milestones with said weapon.

Abilities (including grenades) are locked to Star Cards and are upgradable with Skill Points, which you earn every time you level up the specific class they're attached to.

Star Wars: Battlefront II has been updated today with a vast injection of new, free content.

First up, Felucia has been added to Capital Supremacy. It's a gorgeous agrarian planet featured in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the map centres around a small farm caught between Republic and Separatist forces. There are small huts you can enter and hide in, plus fields fenced off with laser gates, which could leave you cornered if you're not careful. There's also a large lake off to the south which, if you stand close to, you'll notice is the maw of a dead Sarlacc; this is a nice nod to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, in which you fought and killed a Sarlacc on Felucia.

With the update, all Capital Supremacy ground maps (Felucia, Geonosis, Kamino, Kashyyyk and Naboo) are playable in single-player offline Instant Action. This is basically the gameplay from the original Star Wars: Battlefront games; run around, capture command posts, first side to get them all wins. You can tweak the A.I. difficulty and game length, and include enemy A.I. heroes for the first time.

There's also a four-player local co-op variant of the above, again playable offline.

Finally, a new Enforcer unit has been added for the Republic, the Clone Commando. Wearing armour based on the popular Star Wars: Republic Commando game (and subsequently seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) he's a bit of a beast, with a manually-reloading blaster rifle, an air cannon and various other special skills. He helps balance out the Separatist's abundance of Super Battle Droids and Droidekas and is proving to be an instant hit; fans have been asking for his inclusion for quite some time.

In other words, DICE have delivered everything they promised, and it works right out of the box. Yet another fantastic, free update to a game getting zero coverage on most gaming websites.

@RogerRoger It all does look very nice. The official forum indicates that they are finally acknowledging and planning to fix the Starfighter Onslaught mode too!

Don't suppose the CS can be played locally with two players?

@KALofKRYPTON My mistake; I hadn't looked at the co-op properly and it turns out that it's four-players and online, taking you through all the maps from The Clone Wars in a kinda campaign.

I think the game already had splitscreen co-op for its Arcade anyway, so it might also be in Instant Action.

Glad they're fixing Starfighter Onslaught, too! Good to know!

@RogerRoger Worth a check later on.

I don't suppose you recall the size of the patch?

@KALofKRYPTON Somewhere between 6Gb and 7Gb. The total size of Battlefront II is now around 110Gb and this means that the copying process for the update will take a while, too.

@RogerRoger Crap. I think I'm going to have to delete something significant.

@KALofKRYPTON It raised my eyebrows too, at least until I remembered that yesterday's Hitman 2 DLC made that game's total size 126Gb.

It's getting a bit ridiculous on my HDD, that's for sure.

Downloading now. Between this and the new Black Desert update I'll have plenty to sink my teeth into.

Well, the update was painless - forgot I had the Modern Warfare beta that could be deleted

Looks nice, the clone Commando is pretty good too. Really cool to have Instant Action.

So I played the game on day one and for like 5 months. (There was NO mts whatsoever unlike popular beliefs) Was great. Now I decided to go back on it. Of course progression is different but then I maxed my favourite class, hero etc already so it's not really relevant to me. Core gameplay is the same and still good fun but with prettier cut scenes and more heroes and 'specials' infiltrator etc. Was disappointed not to see more weapons etc.
However since the last patch it seems Galactic Assault is crashing regularly and Supremacy is about broken with a loop on the same team and map.
Blast is working alright.
Is that for me or everyone having problems?

The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.

KALofKRYPTON

@JJ2 Haven't played since the week of the Clone Commando update, but all was fine then (apart from the long broken Starfighter Onslaught single player).

@JJ2 No, this is a thing. Everybody is having issues; it isn't just you.

Apparently the last update (which added a few smaller maps to Heroes Vs. Villains and introduced the unlockable Farmboy Luke skin, amongst other things) created a bunch of server instability. Some users have also reported a message upon log-in saying that their save data is corrupted, which isn't true as after shutting down and restarting the game everything seems alright.

The biggest Star Wars PS4 Community seems to suggest that there's a patch in the works, due for release this week if we're lucky. Best advice is to hang tight, I guess.
