Just watched the trailer - looks cracking. I wonder how it ties into the others though, any recuring cast etc? It looks like a completely new franchise, I partly think they just wanted to tie the established RE brand to a VR experiance to give PSVR some additional credability.

Resident Evil 6 was my biggest disappointment last gen. They better step their game up for me get RE 7. I actually thought RE 5 was a decent game but 6 was just awful.

@Splat: Yeah but regardless of your feelings toward 6 (I agree with you) 7 is perhaps too much of a departure to be part of the main series.

@Splat: @kyleforrester87: i had fun with 6 to be fair but anyway on topic

i think this game could be one of the best Horror Resi games yet (i saw 6 as a Action Resi game) but i too feel they may have changed it up TOO much, maybe if it had a 3rd Person view option as well as 1st person and the 1st person was used for VR it might be better?

@FullbringIchigo: I agree, and I felt the same about Silent Hills. No matter how good P.T. was, or this game will be, it just doesn't seem to fit into the existing series.

LUCKILY, however, with Resident Evil, it's been diverse enough over the years for this departure to kinda fit in (Gun Survivor, Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps). I just hope they don't lose the campiness of the series...I want goofy one-liners!

Make it a great day!

I don't usually get much excited about games lately but, honestly, I am very excited about Resident Evil 7. I like that Capcom is focusing on survival horror again, but at the same time I hope that they keep expanding the background story which I have enjoyed this far.

EDIT: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is known in Japan as Biohazard 7: Resident Evil. I like it, finally we're getting the Biohazard name... and they're getting ours.

I'm really angry that they went first person, I hope this does not mean that from now on all resident evil games will be first person... I wonder if the Remake of 2 was cancelled, if they release that and it's third person it'll make up for it

I'd prefer third person myself, but one of my favorite horror games of all time is Xbox 360 launch title Condemned: Criminal Origins. First person didn't harm that and it can work here. Honestly after how stupid Capcom got with 6, I'm more than willing to give this a chance, it can't possibly be the worse. If they're calling it Resident Evil 7 though, some old characters better show up. I don't mind playing as a new character, afterall RE 2 had a new leading man and woman, but I want to see plenty of familiar faces as well.

Goofy dialogues are the most popular thing of the Resident Evil franchise, but the background story of Resident Evil is huge and interesting, the main games in the series are all connected. I don't care if there are new characters, but I hope that REVII is linked to the past somehow.

It would be funny that people now wanted 7 to be more like 6... I don't think the demo can give anybody a final impression of the game and I believe that the final game would be balanced and have weapons.

It does seem odd playing a main RE instalment in the first person perspective. Again, I feel like this was never really planned to be a RE game but they stuck the brand name on it to make PSVR look like it was a mainstream device. I can see why, but personally a new IP would have been preferable for me.

@VanillaLake: Agree I don't mind new characters but I feel like Umbrella and so on need to be involved somehow

@kyleforrester87: A lot of info here:

http://residentevil.wikia.com/wiki/Umbrella_Corporation

You can read the game plots and click on characters and corporations to learn their evolution. It's really interesting, something that could actually happen in the real world (except for the zombies, before anybody says that I'm a fool): evil and greedy corporations, artificial diseases and vaccination, political corruption, etc.

About the first person vs. third person thing, I think I have to wait until I play the final game to say my impressions, but this is the game I'm most excited about at the moment.

Project Zero/Fatal Frame is also one of my favourite video game series. I'm still waiting for 1 and 3 to be released as PS2 Classics for PS4 like they did on PS3...

@MadAussieBloke: I think the demo is more like PT than some claim it to be. It'll probably get an update on a regular base that allows for more of the demo to be explored. So while it is useless now, you probably have to wait until the next update to find out what it does.

@MadAussieBloke: Maybe a big part of the update is still unplayable? I have no clue, but from what I've seen, currently that extra room the the items are the only things available.

Just finished this incredible game. Capcom absolutely knocked it out of the park. Best in the series, can't wait to see where they take the next game.

@KratosMD It is the scariest RE in my opinion, but the fact is it could still be scarier, but my favourite horror films arnt necessarily the most terrifying either. It has just the right amount of horror to keep me "comfortably stressed" lol. I love how old school it is, no floating waypoints and quest markers or sprawling open worlds with side quests. It's a stripped back and to the point experience running on a smooth as butter engine that doesn't constantly distract with technical hiccups. My only complaint I suppose is that the moulded are not as interesting as your generic festering zombies.

Looking forward to this one, gonna do a full play through in vr. Loved the demo, never had a game give me scares like that before!

Holding out for a price drop for now though, after seeing everything slashed to half price within weeks of release before Xmas I'm not going to risk forking out full price on this one. Not like we can grab games from the US store cheap anymore either thanks to brexit!

@KratosMD did you watch it without playing? What you doing?!

The ending was great I thought. The Umbrella thing is interesting, why is Chris working for them, and why is the branding now Blue? Seems there has been some changes since Umbrella folded in the early 2000's. I suppose they could have reformed as a force for good, not sure they would have used the same company name though.. You'd expect that to be a bit tainted after the whole Racoon City "blunder"!
