Topic: Question about upgrading HDD & PS4 to PS4 Pro

Ok, so here's the thing, it may get a bit complicated so bear with me. I had a PS4 w/ 1TB HDD, running low on space. I was on the fence about getting a PS4 Pro, decided to get one (esp. for RDR2). I got a 2TB External HDD for backup also, same time. I connected both PS4's up via Lan Ethernet to move (it copies actually, despite saying transfer) everything to the PS4 Pro. So now I have my PS4 Pro all set up and exactly how it was on the PS4, with a 2TB External on the side.

Well, I kinda changed my mind, I'd like to have a 2TB HDD in my PS4 Pro (I don't like how the external is always running and such, and I have been seeing PS4 Pro selling out, BBuy got it back in stock, so...didn't want to wait) and maybe have the 1TB as external backup (which the moment you plug into Pro as external it'll have to reformat again, yes I know). There is a kit you can get w/ 2TB HDD, PS4 sofware already on USB Drive, and a USB 3.0 casing for old HDD to convert into an extternal.

The question is, when I get the new 2TB HDD that I want to put into the PS4 Pro, can I just take my PS4 (again) and transfer (move/copy) stuff over to it (even though it was already copied to the 1TB in the Pro right now)? WIll that cause issues, do I need to do something beforehand, like wiping out the 1TB in the Pro currently?

I could, instead, use the external I have still and move everything to it, then move it all to the PS4 Pro (I think that may take longer than the Lan Ethernet between both PS4's though), but I would loose setting, folders, and would have to get all save data from USB or cloud, more of a pain.

What I want to do basically, is get the kit, take the 1TB out of the PS4 Pro (and use that as an external), put 2TB in there, then take the PS4 I still have (didn't do anything with it since the transfer/copy) and do the transfer again to the 2TB in the PS4 Pro. Can I do that? I know, I should of just got the kit beforehand, but it just didn't go that way.

Hopefully this will answer your questions https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/help-library/syste...

I changed my normal PS4 internal hdd a few years ago and have a external hdd too. For the new internal hdd you will need to install the system software on to the ps4 from a usb stick. The link to the system software is in the above link.

If memory serves me right your settings will be reset like you have just bought a new ps4 and yeah make sure you back up your saves to the cloud beforehand.
