Topic: Path of Exile

Anyone playing? I have been on it for an hour, I can see this being a goto game for me for a while. I know we have a few Diablo fans on here, someone else must be interested?

Owning Diablo III on both PS4 and Switch I just don't see.the point of getting this as well. If I want to play Diablo I will play that instead of playing a clone.

@Tasuki you’ve applied that logic before with games, it really doesn’t make much sense to me honestly! At any rate a lot of people argue this is better than D3 being more faithful to D2, I wouldn’t know yet myself but that alone makes it worth looking into if you’re a Diablo fan.

Not yet, my psn is the same as my username here. Got it downloading now, looks like it might be about 10gb which is decent!

@kyleforrester87 I have limited time to play games so I try to refrain from buying and playing similar games of the same genre. If I feel like a dungeon crawler loot fest game I have Diablo to scratch that itch. And since I have sunk hours into that game already why would I start a similar game especially when Diablo keeps adding stuff and there is something to always do in that game.

@Tasuki I wouldn't dream of telling anyone how they should be spending their game time, it's just as you say you've sunk hours into the game (as have I) and frankly it's got pretty dull running the same environments with no major shake up to the mechanics after so many years. A few new pieces of loot every now and then and seasons don't really cut it for me at this point. So from my perspective PoE isn't really a game you'd play in conjunction with D3 - it would replace it entirely.

And as a well received free to play 10gb download it has to be worth a punt for any gamer with an interest in action rpgs?

Just my opinion anyway, it doesn't make sense to me to write it off as just a D3 clone. I agree, a few of those exist, but in this case it could actually be the better game...

@kyleforrester87 I can agree it can get pretty dull but that's why I take breaks in between. I play it for a bit then I will go almost six months to a year and not play it again because I will play some of my other games at that time. Then an itch to play Diablo will hit and I am right back on it improving my character. I will also add Season Play adds alot to the game as well. I think before I got it on the Switch the last time In played Diablo was when the Necromancer first came out on PS4, just to give you an idea.

As for replacing D3 why would I start over with a similar game after I sunk hours days and literally years into Diablo 3 and it still has more to give, that just doesn't make sense to me. Now if it had say an ending to it like Kingdome Hearts 3 for example or you constantly played it have the best gear for every class and can take on the highest Torment Level Rift without breaking a sweat then yeah I can see replacing it for that. But sadly my gaming life is not like that, and again they are always adding something new

@Tasuki Ah but would you stop playing D3 if/when D4 comes out, even though your progress is unlikely to carry over?

@kyleforrester87 Sure, once they stop supporting D3 or shut down the servers for example and there nothing for me to do. Then I wouldn't really have a choice.

Path of Exlies, poor UI, game packs expensive compared to PC, no text chat, no cross play. Game is fun but too many short falls for me to play again until they make changes.

@kyleforrester87 liking it so far. It's actually better than I thought for a free game. I have my lvl 13 bow master piercing my way to the top. All solo so far.

Tried it out briefly late last night - didn't like it.

Anyone figure out how to trade to players or post on the trading post in the hubs? I can't seem to do either. Not a game breakers, but I wouldn't mind just gifting things to others either

How the devil does one name a character? I typed a unique name, yet apparently only letters and underscores are allowed. That's exactly what I entered though. Mystified.

It could be taken already. I tried many names until it worked, which surprised me being new to ps4, but maybe they count names across all platforms in case cross play comes along.
