I just hope Bethesda doesn't ruin it @kyleforrester87 .

Already had enough of Actsh$t's meddling in Crash Team Racing and after the utter farce of Fallout 76 last year, those microtransactions in Elder Scrolls Blades and Youngblood + trying to make Rage 2 into a game as a service I don't particularly trust Bethesda at the moment! 😅

Besides those that have yet to come out I still need to nab a copy of Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 as the other most wanted games for me from this year

This year has had a few highlights but mostly DIP.

Dreams is phenomenal as a platform but won't ever take off mainstream due to the nature of it, they should have gone the Mario maker mode and specialised in a few game types rather than every genre. As a niche product its spot on and possibly the game most made for me this gen outside of Astrobot and Yakuza Zero. But it's going to flop, it's too difficult / convuluted / frustrating to get anything up and running from a standing start and the drop off will be humungous.

Sonic Racing was fun but that was down to @RogerRoger and @KALofKRYPTON for having me on board rather than the game which is in the 7/10 category barely.

Apex Legends had huge potential but with all things considered should be a mode for a full game. It just doesn't have enough to it. 4/10.

Edit

I also played the newest DMC and that to me is a complete load of codswallop. Mildly entertaining but riddled with gameplay clichés and a ridiculous set up. I had zero interest in the characters or what was going on. The graphics were decent without blowing the big first party stuff away. There was a massive disconnect from the reviews I read and watched compared to my own experience. I would give it another 7/10 as a comparative PS4 game especially releasing this year - yet I was extremely disappointed.

I can't remember any other stuff I've played which was released this year. So the first 8 months of 2019 are DIP.

Looking forward we have loads of great games which can hopefully turn the year around.

Death Stranding

Outerworlds

Control

Borderlands 3*

*I'm really concerned about BL3. The first 2 games released when micros were in their infancy - if they jump aboard the f2p party bus it could suck big time. But I will await the release and keep my fingers crossed.

Still looking forward to OuterWorlds, and Pathfinder Kingmaker for this year. I'll keep my rpg itch scratched with Black Desert until then.

@themcnoisy Yeah, playing Team Sonic Racing together was fun, wasn't it? Providing you haven't deleted it to make room for Dreams, we should give it another spin sometime. Hopefully when @KALofKRYPTON is feeling better and we've put Lara Croft to bed (ahem).

@RogerRoger I somehow forgot about Jedi Fallen Order. It’s another highly anticipated game for me. Er... well, maybe not so highly since I forgot it on my list, but I really do want to see what that one’s all about. It looks promising. So now my top 5 anticipated games list has turned into a top 7. Oh well.

Edit: Oh, and the fact that Concrete Genie is coming out at the lower $30 price point is awesome. I want to support that kind of practice so I might buy it at launch even though I may not be ready to play it yet. I wish more publishers considered releasing at lower prices.

We will see. Hopefully it's not mega intrusive.

It's been a solid year so far.

I've had genuine enjoyment in Resident Evil 2, Days Gone, Team Sonic Racing, Judgment, Division 2 and Farm Together.

Conversely I didn't think much of Sekiro, Metro Exodus, Ace Combat 7, DMC5 or Rage 2.

Coming up I'm excited about Wreckfest, Man of Medan, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and a few others so hopefully it'll be a strong finish leading into a ridiculously stacked 2020.

@Th3solution I'm even more excited now that I know Jedi Fallen Order will have a Photo Mode, which is the same reason I'm gonna keep an eye on Concrete Genie. Didn't know (or had forgotten) about the lower launch price for that one, by the way; thanks for the heads-up.

@Frigate Ace Combat 7 was on my radar on the first page of this topic; any specific reason why you didn't enjoy it as much? I still have it in mind (for when I've got slightly less than 52 games in my backlog).

I've said elsewhere that there is not a game coming out in the last few months that I'm hyped or interested in, and certainly not enough to get them at launch. That may change depending on reviews or if something lights a spark.

We are now in a world of people being offended for other people who they think should be offended, who arent offended.

@RogerRoger The game is technically solid. My misgivings are primarily from a series fan standpoint. The issues I mainly have with it are the story and totally wishy-washy nature of it; the massive lack of character depth, any kind of consistent wing pilots that you might care about like in previous games, anybody in your squadron actually being any good, the constant missile missile beeping over the top of the in game chatter....

I'm being hard on it and it's more of an emotional let down in the same way that RDR2 was for me (though I intend the play that again). The actual flying itself is wonderful. It's like the inside of the cake is wonderful but you have to fight through the dreadful exterior to get to it.

@Frigate Thanks; that's exactly the kinda description I was after. Sorry to hear it's a letdown for fans of the franchise. As for me personally, whilst I've only ever played Ace Combat: Assault Horizon before (which I understand is a little divisive) at least it had a coherent plot and I do need my games to have a narrative point, if only a minor or simple one.

Will keep your comments in mind and perhaps scale down what I'd be prepared to pick it up for.
