I don't think the devs are being honest as this game has been out for years just not available in JP or US only in China so why announce it like it's a brand new thing when it's not?

@BoltedArc MHW is a new game altogether. That said, the camera angle is pretty similar to MHO, though.

@Mega-Gazz oh yeah thanks mate. I've never played a monster hunter game that I can recall, so yeah I'm pretty intrigued by monster hunter world.

I doubt MHW is just a re-brand & localization of Online. I'll be keeping an eye on this one anyway, but to be honest I played 3 & 4 on the 3DS and they didn't click with me at all. I can see the appeal though.

I wonder how this game's gonna fare in Japan since the series for the most part has been a portable game and now it's only for home consoles and PC.

Exactly my feelings. The game is like a ritual of sorts, just getting all the necessary items (that you normally have to prepare as you cannot purchase them ready most of the time) to start a hunt. Then if you are looking for a specific monster part pray to the heavens you actually get it as they are randomized.

It is the kind of game that demands a TON of time from you and if the gameplay hook doesnt grab you, there is no way you are going to give it so much time. Also, although you can play on your own the game is easily focused for online play. As in, the monsters are easier to hunt and you cheer each other and share advices.

They have been billing this one as being "westernized" but purists will cry foul if they change too much or try to make it more accessible to newcomers.
