Luckily there is more than one registered member of pushsquare who have played The phantom pain early (counted 4 of us last night) and the game is mind blowing.

However the traversal and open world don't help the game in my opinion. The base sneaking, gazillion weapons and gameplay is top notch but I cant help thinking that if the game was more streamlined without the open world it would be more fun. Anyone got an opinion?

Disagree at the mo but I'll play a lot more before I fully decide, but overall prefer the new direction.

It's barely open world really, afghan actually isn't that big when you factor in the mountains you can't climb and the missions are focused so keep you on point. It's the right mix and pretty much what I expected based on GZ and preview footage.

Don't get me wrong it's inevitable that the story telling will take a hit when something goes from linear to more open world but balancing the pros with the cons this has the best gameplay of any MG I have played so I'm happy with the changes.
