Topic: Just Cause 3 ~ OT

Really looking forward to this even though I won't be getting until Christmas. Thought I might as well make a thread for it!

First though, a question - where's the review guys, I thought embargo lifted today?

Based on the lack of reviews online, and a couple worrying reports of terrible performance, I'm a little worried they've pulled the game at the last minute or something!

@SteveButler2210: Hmm in a game with the potential for so many explosions and so much destruction I expect there are situations where the frame rate will drop right down, especially when your "creativity" is resulting in some really crazy situations. Given the amount of destruction going on I'd be amazed if the engine could withstand absolutely everything the gamer can throw at it.

Will be interesting to see the reviews, though.

If it averages in the 8 range, which I expect it to, I'll buy it. One review already broke the embargo and it scored an 8. High markings in both gameplay and graphics, although the story and dialogue were criticized.

@SteveButler2210: I'm currently playing it and rather enjoying it despite the technical problems. The reason for the late review is that our review copy only came today - I'm the designated reviewer, and I'm hoping to get it up for Thursday. In the meantime, Alex's first impressions article is hopefully enough to get a little idea on how good the game is

im really liking the game despite the issues with it, it a massive time sink. spent god knows how long last night turning a port-a-loo into a rocket after unlocking the rocket powered C4 stuff.

Loving the game so far. The long load times are annoying. I did read if you go off line the loadtimes are reduced. I havnt tried yet though. My only issue so far is when you have to meet your friend outside a city, I can't tell where he is. Am I missing something. Also I havnt found the day 1 vehicles in game. I thought they would be in the drop.

Anyone hear of a possible update time on this game to reduce the load times?

There has already been a patch to reduce the load times, although I can't say how it compares as I only started playing post Christmas.

Hopefully they will release more updates to tackle the performance issues

@Quintumply Oh nice, haven't played in a couple of weeks, I'll have to test it out. Thanks.

Explosions are fun, but it does get a bit samey after a while, and also the leaderboards don't won't only showing my personal best scores.

@Quintumply: how's the frame rate now? I've got £60 to spend on the PSN, and I'm tempted to pick it up. The PSN funds were effectively free, so I'm not really fussed about the fact that I could find it cheaper online!

I think I saw that you've started playing it already? The frame rate isn't too bad, but it definitely dips when things get too intense. I'm not that bothered by it, but if a dodgy frame rate is a hang up for you, then maybe wait for some patches - I read they were working on more updates.

@Quintumply: no worries, yeah I decided to just go for it in the end - spent a heck of a lot of time this weekend on my personal statement for uni (the deadline for applications being this coming Friday), so decided that I could use a game that involved lots of stupidity and explosions for when a bit of down time was needed haha!

Enjoying what I've played so far, and not noticed any performance issues significant enough to really bug me. Looking forward to getting a bit further so I can get a decent military plane to really open things up for exploration!

Do you know if there's a way to reduce the 30 min cooldown on the rebel drops? I accidentally blew up the starter plane as soon as I got in it, and didn't have time to wait 30 mins to spawn a new one in that play session!

@SteveButler2210: I think you can earn upgrades that reduce the cool down timer, pretty sure you can get rid of it completely eventually. Not sure how to unlock those upgrades though!

I just started this since it's on PS+ and I'm enjoying it but the servers are awful. I'm not even trying to play Multiplayer just by myself. It tries to auto connect every time I open the map and it takes 1-2 mins and then fails every time.

It's ruining the game. I wish I could just turn off auto connect.

@Splat Yeah that is a bummer. It takes ages to go through the "attempting log in" process too, as you say. I resorted to just turning my internet connection off on the PS4 to play.

Maybe it's just the influx of all the PS+ players logging in.

I'm really trying to get into this game but it's kinda broken. There are parts of it I really like but it feels like a chore to play at times.
