Topic: Metal Gear Solid V OT

Hi team, as a starter for 10, lets all buy mgs when its released so we can get an online footprint everyone up for that or have a different game in mind?

Probably going to pass on this one. Honestly not a big MGS fan. I really enjoyed the first one but after that....

Good luck in getting a group together though.

I am in! Big metal gear fan, hopefully the online portion is good. Would be nice to be integrated into the mother base creation.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Me and one of my mates have booked the week off work, and he's going to be pretty much living with me for that week while we play through it. Hopefully should get the SP campaign out of the way within the first few days, leaving some time for MP at the end of the week!

@themcnoisy hell yes! I am attempting the platinum for MGS3 right now, getting the camo from the end is a pain. You're right about the headset, I'm gonna have to go out and pick something up before the game drops.

Ah, I've never booked off time for a game before - thinking about taking the week off for MGS5 though. I havn't had a break yet this year, feel like a few days in Afghanistan is just what I need!

I did really enjoy 3. But I played 2 the most out of all of them. First the demo, I sunk hours into that. Then the main release I once cleared the whole game 3 times in one day (very easy, easy and normal mode) getting all dog tags for each difficulty. I got to the last boss on European Extreme but I never managed to beat him

3 was the better game, but it was a bit too sprawling to really appreciate all the nice environments. Because Big Shell had you going back and forth so much you became very familiar with your environment. Just a shame it was bland as hell. Lovely frame rate, though. 3 was a bit sluggish.

This is the first time I've taken any significant time out for a game, and I can't wait!

@ClayDavis83 I had such a bad experience with The End. Had just spent about 30 mins running around after him, whittling down his health while also trying to hold him up for the camo. Eventually got him to drop it, and decided to end it as he was low health and grab the camo after, so I blasted him with a shotgun. Camo had disappeared after the cutscene...

As for the headset, I know a lot of people swear by the more expensive bits of kit, but I picked up the Sony gold wireless headset last year and absolutely love it!

@SteveButler2210 yea once i get the camo I am tempted to try the waiting trick that i heard (don't know if it's true). Hide and wait out the fight and the end dies of old age. Thanks for the headset recommendation! Definitely won't be going top of the line so I will look into the Sony gold.

I can confirm it's definitely doable, think you have to set the clock forward (or wait, whichever) 1 week, but could be wrong about the exact length there. You get a very judgemental codec call afterwards, berating you for being underhanded! Also, if you've not done it before, when you end up in the prison you should save and quit then reload your save...

No problem man, just realised it's only branded as the "Gold" in the US, over here in the UK it's just the Wireless 2.0. Although the bass can occasionally be a bit lacklustre, it's not something I've ever really noticed, I've found it generally to be a really nice set for the price, with good surround sound that is pretty accurate (playing Outlast on my own in the pitch black with these on was interesting). I think they work quite well as a middle ground for somebody who wants a nice sounding headset with good surround sound, but doesn't want to spend in the hundreds for it.

I havent been an MSG Fan in years, but honestly im on the fence with this game,it may not be a day 1 buy but ill watch reviews first, so it could be a day two-seven buy

I think GZ will give you a pretty good indication of whether you'll like the main game. I personally found it fun enough hassling guards in GZ so being able to do so on a larger scale with more toys is enough for me to part with my money for PP. Anything extra, such as great story etc. is a bonus.

And that walker looks so cool.

I'll probably have a PS4 by the time MGSV releases, so yeah I'll probably get it day one. Collector's Edition if possible.

Big fan of the series. I've played every major Metal Gear except GZ and Revengeance, and I'm really looking forward to this game.

I'll play MGS phantom Pain Online love MGS played everyone & also own them, used to play a lot of MGO MGS4.

Cool I believe the release is 1st of September. I have paternity leave around then so we will be beating the opposition mid September for 2 weeks (metal gear) solid.

Yep, September 1st. Monday 31st August is a bank holiday so I'll be playing a bit of GZ on that day to remind myself of the controls then I'll take at least Tue/Wed/Thurs off to play some PP and eat crisps

Anyone seen any good pre order deals? I'm usually dead against preordering but as I'm having a kid around that time it makes sense.
