@JohnnyShoulder i'm happy it's in 3rd person.

imagine resi 8 being in first person again WITH spiders.

the fact that resi 3 is in 3rd person is the reason i'm gonna play it. i can't play 1st person horror games. to much for me.

heck i turn skyrim to 3rd person whenever i encounter a frostbite spider.

Honestly the spiders in Resi 1 were never really that scary to me, they just seemed a bit silly really. Same with the big moths and those walking plants in the second game.

The crows and dogs in the first game were the worst for me. @RogerRoger I don’t think you’d have enjoyed the Hunters, had you made it that far 😂

Crimson Heads in the remake are awful, too.

@kyleforrester87 Crimson Heads are the reason I stopped REmake and ended up playing every game other than 0, 5 and 6. I feel sufficiently ready to go back to it now to be honest.

@jdv95 You are right, that would be horrible. I not sure I could play that! The ones in Elder Scrolls were bad enough.

@RogerRoger Sorry to hear the game spooked you. It's good that you're trying to push against the boundaries of your comfort, though!

Still going to give the sequels a try, or are you done with the franchise? I'd say Resi 2 really isn't scary at all, but that's before I remembered Lickers were a thing, and how they like to jump scare you by dropping from the ceiling.

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy @JohnnyShoulder I can steel myself against in-game spiders under certain circumstances; I think it was a combination of factors already making me uncomfortable in the mansion gardens, which a realistically-animated arachnid would've only compounded. It's a credit to Resi for expertly making me squirm in my seat, using those fixed camera angles and the idea of small, tricky-to-shoot creatures dropping out of nowhere like that. They escalated the tension and threat far beyond the campy, almost Disney-esque mansion interior and, frankly, it was my fault for thinking that they'd keep everything so sedate from beginning to end.

Show me a giant tarantula in Tomb Raider Underworld and it's okay, because I can make Lara backflip off its face and blast it to smithereens. Make a giant tarantula drop on Chris' head as he awkwardly moonwalks into a corner, fumbling to reload his handgun, and I'm out.

@kyleforrester87 The enemy in that video looks like Killer Croc from Batman, so he's fine. No issue with humanoid reptiles, love lizards and snakes in real life. Same with the Licker in the video @Ralizah posted; he's just a dude with a skin condition who's trying to eat a Fruit Roll-Up (rather unsuccessfully, I might add, as if his day wasn't bad enough already).

Knowing that Resi 2 is spider-free helps. I'll probably give that a shot someday, when I'm feeling a little braver than I do right now. I also haven't minded walking away from an older game; at least I've seen what it's all about now, and given it my best shot.

Thanks for the replies, everybody! Did feel a bit silly yesterday but you're right, each to their own.

I recently gave up on Sonic Forces. It's just a bit all over the place and doesn't seem to know quite what it wants to be. I quite enjoyed the couple of boss fights I did but overall I just couldn't be bothered to see it through.

I did find it highly amusing that it is the only game I've played that locks all screenshots and videos during cutscenes. It's not exactly the most in depth story that is going to get spoiled for people..

BioShock 2. The shooting and movement didn't feel right to, a bit floaty. I may give one more go, but the last couple of goes I've not really been enjoying it that much, just playing to complete it. Which is always one of the first signs with me that I will dropping it soon.

@JohnnyShoulder
I imagine it hasn't aged terribly well. Although personally I think BioShock 2 & 3 are overrated. I finished both when they came out but I didn't love them. Think I was just carried away with the hype at the time.

@Thrillho That weirded me out so much! Didn't understand that in the slightest, especially since SEGA are the opposite of litigious when it comes to sharing their content. I got so frustrated with it, I quit and disabled the PS4's pop-up notifications informing me of the lockdown.

Sorry to hear that you had to abandon a four-hour game, but nobody should ever keep playing something they're simply not enthusiastic about. At least it was free, right? You got it on PS Plus?

@RogerRoger Yeah, got it as a freebie. My problem is that I felt obliged to try and S rank levels which isn’t particularly difficult but still meant I was replaying levels.

The variation in levels just felt like the game didn’t know what it wanted to be rather than giving variety. And like lots of modern Sonic, the jumping in the Sonic levels felt too “heavy” compared to the old games.

Thrillho

Ralizah

@Thrillho LOL I think I'm going to try that soon, since I can't seem to enjoy classic Sonic game design anymore (wasn't gaga over Sonic Mania like everyone else, and despite having a nostalgic fondness for Sonic 2, I never want to play any of the old games for more than a few stages before I get tired of them). What's the worst thing that happens?

RIP to the people who spent full price on this game.

@RogerRoger @Thrillho Ratchet and Clank does that also. And yep I disabled the notification also, and I wasn't even taking any screenshots of the game .

It was a budget title, same as Team Sonic Racing. Both games were £35 at launch, and I feel like I've gotten more than my money's worth.

But since Sonic Forces wasn't everybody's cup of tea, I'm glad curious folk can try it for free.

I have no longer interest with Kingdom Hearts series despite i have ever beat the game on PS2 long time ago.
To see Kingdom Hearts stories, it was like Very Bad Telenovela with Very Arrogant and Autistic Organization XIII dudes. Almost same insanity as Dr Robotnik.
They kept babbling nonsense about being lonely, forgotten, someone must suffer by their loneliness. They act like immature bratz to gain attention.
The Disney stuffs was okay but the way of SquareEnix to handle the storyline of Kingdom Hearts was really bad. I have sold my KH 1.5 + 2.5 PS4 last year, exchanged with Metroid Prime Federation Force 3DS instead. I still keep Kingdom Hearts 3DS for some reasons but i still haven't touched the game since 6 years ago.

I gave up Catherine Full Body. The overall story was a good, mature tale about essentially a moron who kept making awful life choices. The gameplay was kinda annoying rather than fun, which is probably a bad sign too. It just left a bad taste in my mouth, playing as a character who was unlikeable and a massive bigot and there were even more throwaway dodgy lines than the Persona games so I just couldn’t bring myself to play anymore.

Dark Souls Remastered. It is a great game, but I just beat Seath and don't want the experience to be ruined for me by the allegedly poor quality of the second half, with the exclusion of Kiln of the First Flame, which looks great, I just don't want a load of negative experiences trudging through the Demon Ruins and so forth to ruin what up until this point has been a great experience.

I intend to move on to Alien Isolation and Call Of Cthulhu (played Alien Isolation briefly, nearly finished Call Of Cthulhu before, can't really remember why I gave up).

@Draco_V_Ecliptic Ummmm, it's not that bad just not as good as the previous areas. At least give it a try as you might actually find it ok. It is worth it to see the final area too.
