I’m in talks to buy a PS4 from Facebook marketplace and the console has Fifa 19 downloaded on it. If I purchase the console and he restores to factory settings. When I go to set up my own account will Fifa 19 still be on the console ready for me to play?

@Newjsp No; a restoration of a PS4's factory settings will wipe all data from the hard drive.

The previous owner's digital copy of FIFA 19 will also have been associated with their PlayStation Network ID (because they paid for it). All digital purchases from PSN are synchronised to an account. You'll have to purchase your own copy of the game once you've logged in with your own unique PSN account, or borrow / rent / buy a disc-based copy.

@Newjsp As @RogerRoger states, a factory reset will reset everything back to the settings as if you had bought it new from 'Factory'. Also has was stated, any 'digital' games that come with a 2nd hand console are worthless - unless the person is also selling their account with the console. You will be stuck with their gamer tag - at least until they bring in the option to change that, and you will have to reset the email and password associated to that account otherwise the previous owner could access any digital content you buy as well as mess with any progress you may have.

Digital games are essentially worthless to anyone - other than the person who bought them. They have NO resale or trade value at all and (I believe), if you were to go to Game with a console with 20 digital games on the hard drive, they will only offer as much as they would for a console with no games in a similar condition which is less than a console with those same 20 games on disc.

Unless they are selling the console and a 'physical' copy of the game (or an unused digital code for the game), the console is not worth any more than just a 2nd console with no games. Don't pay more because the seller says they have 'X' game(s) on the HDD as they cannot be played at all unless they are also selling their account. All you are getting is a console with a game on the HDD you can't play but they can re-download and play if they replace their console - for example have upgraded to a Pro.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
