One of the main reasons I use it for non-gaming purposes is because of the wireless headsets as well. I got the platinum headset a month or so ago and it's really handy to be able to use Netflix and the like at night without waking up my street.
Apps i use are Netflix, YouTube, and Ign. I use the media player for music and video i copied from my PS3 and PC and photos and video captured on my digital camera. I rarely rent new movies as i prefer what TCM offers.
I also use the browser every day. The browser actually works ok for basic browsing and watching the regular YouTube. I can follow sports scores, the weather, email, watch news, and visit video game related sites like this one. However, like the PS3, having javascript enabled causes problems on a lot of sites. Push Square is among the sites that works well with javascript enabled.
I use it mainly for gaming, almost exclusively VR at the moment too, but occasionally for 3D Blurays as well. My PC has a Bluray drive but 3D films look really wonky when viewed via PowerDVD on it - plays fine on Ps4.
