Topic: Do PS3 games work in PS4 machines

I searched for this before starting this thread and it came back "There are no threads" so I'll ask anyway.

I bought a second-hand game from eBay 'Call of Duty MW2' for PC but it wouldn't run as it had already been registered with Steam. Years ago you bought a game and just loaded it onto your computer and started playing. Now you've got to sign up with another company who gives you permission to play the game you already own.

It's a crazy world we live in.

So I couldn't find 'Call of Duty MW2' for PS4 (Second hand as I couldn't afford a new one) but there were a few on eBay for PS3. Will the PS3 still work on my PS4?

The ps4 can't play ps3 games.

I believe the PS4 remastered version of MW2 (which was only the campaign, no multiplayer) was digital only. The original PS3 game will only work on PS3 unfortunately.

Ok, Thanks for telling me guy's it saves me paying money for something worthless. I'll bide my time and no doubt a PS4 copy will turn up eventually.

@FabianPruitt A PS4 copy won’t turn up eventually. It hasn’t been released on PS4 physically.

Actually, I meant an original disc, not a copy. I'm not a pirate after all.

@FabianPruitt There is NO PS4 disc for CoD:MW2 (the PS3 era version). They 'remastered' the Campaign (not the MP) and released it as a Digital ONLY release - NO PHYSICAL DISC RELEASE.

Therefore, if you want to play MW2 on PS4, the ONLY option is to buy the Digital version from the Sony Store...

You must forgive me for being naive about these things as I'm 78 and shouldn't have a PS4 in the first place. But I bought it for my Grandsons 10th birthday, alas his mother (the *****) bought him an Xbox days before his birthday. She's still in debt 1 year on. lol.

I've bought several "Call of Duty" games for when the boy comes to visit with his father and all 3 of us have a great time trying to kill each other for a day. That MW2 I had on my desktop and I enjoyed hunting "The Faluga Gang" (not spelt right). I guess that must have been a copy of the remastered game all the other members were on about. It was on a second-hand hard drive I bought at a local computer store. Alas, it got formatted by accident and I lost the game.

Anyway, I'm rattling on as usual so thanks to everyone for taking the time to put an old man out of his misery.
