This game sounds amazing. I read a review that really impressed with its praise of the games story and writing (along with voice acting), so I'm gonna get for the multiple choice (where you can kill anyone) and play myself a good anti-hero or villian protagonist. The fact that it has some decent combat just cements at as Baulder's Gate and stuff have good stories, but crap combat to bring it down and make you dread every fight, even though that's not why the game was played. I don't when I'll get it because it's so long, but I really want it so it won't an awful long time.

@NecuVise Hey, man! It seems like a while since I’ve seen you around. Good to see you posting again!

Yeah, I am really intrigued by Divinity Sin. I was tempted to buy the first one the other day, but it was still $40 (pretty high for an older game) and the second one seems a better game anyways. Again, with the sheer length of the game it doesn’t make sense to buy it yet until I make it through some of the other new games and backlog.

@Th3solution I haven't been around for two or three months and it's ice that someone remembers me thanks!

I think around 20 usd is a good price for the first one, so it will pop up in some of future sales, so look after it. I got around 80 hours from the first one, so it really takes time to beat it. In the beginning it felt like a really difficult game but after some time you git gud and just enjoy it a lot.

@NecuVise OMG 😲 — the PSN sale that started today has DOS Enhanced Edition for $10. That’s a bargain price and usually worth taking a chance for that. So now it comes down to whether I have the time.
So is it pretty difficult then? I don’t have any experience with the genre. I play a ton of RPGs, but this looks a wee-bit intimidating.

@Th3solution $10 is a steal for dos1. It is not that difficult at all. Just space your people out so they all can't be hit by the same spell. If an area is too hard, come back to it later, It might have been too high of a lvl area. Plenty of guides as well if you get stuck. Early on, steal everything, especially pictures. You will make some quick money. A good way to help you steal is have one character talk to an npc and have the other loot behind him. Let me know if you have any questions. I just finished it a second time. I didn't pick up dos2 yet, although I may soon. My list of not yet played is too long for now. Good luck

@Th3solution yeah, I wanted to tell you about it as that's such a good price! No, it's not very difficult. You just need to think and don't rush into battles. For example, if enemies are standing in water you can hit that water with electricity and deal bonus damage, but if your comrades are in the water too they will also get hit. There are plenty of similar experiences. Battles are turn based so you have plenty of time to think. DOS is my second best RPG after the Witcher 3 this generation.

Besides, you've beaten bloodborne so this certainly isn't more difficult, not even close

@Th3solution I paid about £7 for it about a year ago. Played about an hour of it and not gone back to it since. No fault of the game I just wasn't in the mood for it and knew it was a long game to complete so that out me off too. I will get back to it eventually just dunno when.

Can someone explain the co-op? Can I take my custom character creation not another persons game? If so can I keep any gold or anything? I’m really confused and I’m thinking about getting this game, but want to know first.

I’ve been really curious about this game also, with the gushing critical acclaim, 9/10 and 10/10 review scores, and yet remarkably there is very little chatter about it. Was hardly even mentioned as a GOTY candidate. I do realize it’s a port of a PC title that has been out for a while, but still. Appears to be the best game that no one has played.

@Th3solution well, this type of a game isn't very popular on consoles, so we can be grateful we even got a port. I've finished the first one back in time and I have this one unwrapped waiting to be played. It's a difficult game to market.

@Jaz007 can't help you there as I've never played coop in this game. Have you tried googling some of your questions?

NecuVise

Jaz007

@NecuVise I have, and I think I mostly have it figured out, but someone said something about an update changing it a bit, and everything I saw looked like it was before that (alleged) update and I couldn’t find anything else. So I’m still hoping someone will answer that last bit.

@kyleforrester87 I've tagged you in as you seem to be the forum expert in this game!

@Jaz007 I believe that if you join a multiplayer session at the character creation screen you can make your own character along side the host. But this character "belongs" to the host and everything is saved on his/her end, I.e you can't play that character solo, but he/she can carry on playing solo as it's their character.

If you join a game after the character creation screen you just get to take control of one of the pre-existing team members that the host may have.

I played very little co-op so I maybe wrong but that's how I understand it to work. I dont think you can just bring any character into any session then carry on playing solo (like Diablo) but I may be wrong.

Unfortunately I didn't clear OS2, I thought the combat was a bit of a mess compared to OS1, but it is a lot better in other ways to be fair. I was thinking about giving it another go pretty soon.

@Jaz007 I can confirm what @kyleforrester87 said. I have played coop and solo through the game. It was my Game of the Year. I am a big fan of isometric games and this one is the best so far. I am waiting on the pillars 2 port to see how close it comes to this.

Elodin

kyleforrester87

@Elodin I am pretty excited for Pillars 2 - I was really enjoying Pillars 1 but the load times just got out of control. I have sort of heard this has been resolved for the sequel but of course even if true this may not translate to the console versions. For that reason I am sad to say I am unlikely to get it Day 1, but all being well I would like to pick it up on the Switch. Unless those beautiful backgrounds are 4K on the Pro version, that is...

@kyleforrester87 ahh yes, fingers crossed on faster loading times for the sequel . It ruined a fun Pillars game.

@Elodin @kyleforrester87 What happens to the custom character if the game is continued without that person? Do they dissapear or just keep in the game? I know NPC party members have dialogue and act of their own accord, so what does a custom character do?

Jaz007

kyleforrester87

@Jaz007 they stay in the game and the host controls them just like a regular party member, you'll basically miss out on one of the origin stories since a party slot will be taken up by that custom character. I wouldn't really worry about that myself though, in that sense the game is designed for several play throughs since you can never do everyone's stories in one go anyway.

Who are you planning on playing co-op with? Might just be better to play on your own? Or if you do go co-op just use origin characters.

@kyleforrester87 I’ll be playing with a couple of really good friends who will also be getting it. If I play on my own I’ll just use another save file. I understand how the co-op works now, it’s just confusing at first glance.
Thanks to both of you for answering the question!

@Jaz007 cool, have fun with it - I wouldn't worry about missing out on some story content etc.

A big part of the game is just experimenting, there are a lot of ways to deal with situations and it's at its best when you feel like you've managed to break the game to get a result.
