Anyone else playing the demo right now? I kinda like it.

Don't know who thought it would be a good idea to map both the action button and the camera to the right control stick though. It's not like you need the rest of the buttons anyway, all I've used is the two sticks, L, R, the touch pad, triangle and cross. Why not map the action button to triangle, just like how interacting people is done with cross?

Anyway, the rest is pretty good. I do wonder if we get to replay levels in the same save file. The demo allows for this, but they also mention that you can loose characters permanently, so I don't know how that will affect the gameplay.

I could never got on with controls for heavy rain so unless there is an improvement i will be giving this a hard pass.

Plus i believe this comes out on the same day as Dark Souls Remastered...

I really liked the demo. It gives you a good idea of what to expect regarding the many possible outcomes in the game. I just hope there's an option to turn off the information on clues and percentage success, though. The music and atmosphere was spot on and It looks fantastic.

I'm even more excited for this now.

I’ve been intrigued with the game since last E3, so I’ll give the demo a shot. I’m not 100% sold on the game yet, so I’ll play the demo, look at the reviews, and go from there.

I've always like the idea of these type of games, but they don't play well with me. I didn't like Heavy Rain. I'll wait for reviews and a discount if it seems like I might like it. @JohnnyShoulder I might need to dig into the Dark Souls Remaster... but first God of War; well, after I finish the siege on Monster Hunter

Despite wanting to wait for the full release, I gave the demo a go earlier today. The controls feel even more awkward than Heavy Rain from what I remember. I also don't understand why the action button is the same as the camera

Still excited for the game, but I do question whether a demo like this actually helps sell the game to anyone that's unsure.

@roe To their credit, for a game that uses the same control stick for actions and the camera, it works surprisingly well lol.

I'm excited for Detroit. I didn't like Farenheit, but I enjoyed Beyond 2 Souls and loved Heavy Rain. This looks more like the latter.
Won't play the demo though. I'm already sold on the game and I don't want to spoil anything for myself. I can wait.

I was a little bit blown away by this demo when I fired it up. I was in a party chat with a friend and very rudely interrupted him with a string of expletives as soon as the elevator doors opened.

I agree with the comments people have made regarding the camera, even with alternate angles it does feel quite clunky in places. I found the navigation to be largely painless, which was a pleasant surprise given some of QD's previous work, also I found the combination of the action maneuvers and camera control actually worked for me. I think when it is working at its best, it directs Connor's attention according to what he is doing at that moment. For example, when you go to examine the scene he turns to face and study the object you select, as opposed to picking it up and looking off in to the middle distance in a canned animation.

The instance itself has always been really engaging for me since the first trailer they showed of it. I love the idea of examining where these android characters see themselves fitting in with regards to 'human struggles'. I played the demo several times and I feel like you can quite comfortably begin to immerse yourself in Connor's situation. My first playthrough was really quite brief, I was really hyped on the atmosphere in the room and I approached the situation emotionally instead of using evidence and reasoning. I was still able to succeed, but at a significantly higher cost than if I had taken the time to investigate more effectively.
My subsequent playthrough was far more in line with what I think Connor would have 'thought' to do, having quickly investigated and established a sequence of events before confronting and subduing the 'deviant'.

Really really enjoyed my time with it! I'll be interested to see how (or if) this sequence will appear in the full release of the game!

I had been excited about Detroit BH for a while, then I have been cooling off to the idea and had decided not to pre-order, until I played the demo today. Wow, I really liked it. I liked Heavy Rain, so this resonated more with me than maybe someone else, but the demo really sold me on it. I’m still not sure if I’ll go for it on Day 1, or wait for the inevitable sale or price drop, but I must say it looks a works great. I liked the investigation of the scene, the tension of trying to save the girl, the Batman Arkhamesque putting together a crime scene like the Dark Knight, and the overall crisp presentation of the game. Yeah, the controls are not intuitive, but in this particular instance, it worked fine, since there was no quick trigger moments like combat. I haven’t played through again to see an alternate path yet, and when I played Heavy Rain, I never went back as I wanted my story choices to “stick” and be the “true” way things ended up.
I am pleasantly surprised. Too bad I just put down preorders on Spiderman and Shadow of the TR, so my funds are a little light.

Overall I really liked the demo. Certain aspects of the decision-making system seemed odd to me, but nothing I feel would detract from the experience in a significant way. I did not like the camera angles, but can get used to it, so it's not a big issue either.

The main pull for me with this game is the sci-fi setting. I love sci-fi games and having one that focuses this much on story, characters and narrative is very appealing. The premise of the game brings me back to reading Asimov, so that's obviously a big plus for me. I do hope the focus is on the science-fiction itself, the Big Idea of artificial intelligence.

I think Detroit will be one of the most unique and interesting games around, I just wish I had more money to spend on games lol.

Edit: I've since actually pre-ordered it. It's just too unique and I want to play it at launch.

@kyleforrester87 So what do you think about this game? It’s a AAA game that appears to be unique and a different type of experience than the standard open world, rpg lite, shoot ‘em up stuff. I think the gameplay looks fresh and interesting. Like I said, I might end up playing this before God of War because of the potential palate cleansing effect. Either way I’m probably waiting on reviews and sales before committing.

Edit: oh I just saw your comment above. Not your cup o tea.

A little too "chose your own adventure" for me. I appreciate this is just my taste in games speaking and the demo portrayed it as being a good example of its genre.

@Th3solution haha I really liked Fahrenheit back when it released (2004??) but Heavy Rain didn't click with me. I didn't try Two Souls. But Detroits theme is pretty appealing to me, I just worry that the gameplay may be left wanting, and the story could be "Great! For a video game...!"

I didn't play the demo though, but I did hear good things in fairness.

I've put in a couple of hours so far and I am really enjoying it! The game itself feels more robust than the demo maybe suggested, however that was an incredibly good example of how the presentation and controls all work!

I'll try to get back with some more once I've had a chance to get my teeth in!

I am absolutely loving Detroit! Does that hurt my Gamer Cred?
It seems like every PlayStation exclusive is better looking then the last.

I'm also certain to replay this game once I beat it. I've made some regretful decisions... .

Also Chloe as part of the menu screen is one of the best things ever!
She creeps me out. Just watch her for 5 minutes or so it's unsettling.
When I booted the game up this morning she greeted me with: Great to start the weekend with Detroit . Are you going start reading some of my save files of the hard drive next?
The only way she would be more unsettling is if she/the game used the PS camera to track my movements.

Also really enjoying so far. Only about 2 to 3 hours in but I'm already impressed. It looks great, the voice acting is really good and I already feel like it gives you more choice than practically any other game like this in the genre. The flowchart at the end of each chapter is incredible.

I'm sure there'll be a few plot holes later on and the odd thing that annoys me about the story but ultimately I can't wait to get back into it later tonight and tomorrow - which is surely the sign of a good game.

I've only played the first part of each of the characters and I like them all. I really liked Marcus' chapter with the old artist, it was quite heartwarming i thought. The facial expressions and body animations are exceptional, especially after playing some Andromeda.
