Yeah I had a few of those last night the groups I got into where just bad. 4 out of 5 matches we ended up spawn trapped it was almost as if my teammates weren't even trying.

@iDangerMouse_: The furthest I have reached is around 14 or so but I have been doing it Solo. I have managed to get the Bow and started its upgrade path as well, managed to pack-a-punch etc. I got a bit trapped when the rocket took off as the Teleporter was not active and not having others to help, got a bit swarmed...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

My highest so far is 24 with my friend, it's always the Panzer Soldier that seems to ruin it for us.

Also after a multiplayer session last night I now officially hate Safeguard. It's such a frustrating mode because the team that goes first always has the advantage since they know all of the ambush points from defending. It would've been nice if the robot took different paths instead of the same one every time.

Ok just a couple of questions that I have and or looking for advice, hopefully someone around here can help.

1)So first off I enjoy an aggressive playstyle, meaning I am not one to camp but more prefer constantly being the move, what gun would be good for an aggressive in your face place style?

2) This is more of a game mechanic, but is there anything I can do about making R3 an action. Sometimes in the heat of a battle my thumb slips and all of a sudden my guy is ducking or crawling if I switch it to my melee attack I will punch regardless this is annoying and often gets me killed. Any tips or way to make the R3 not some sort of action?

Thanks.

So to answer your first question...

If you want to get right up in their face, then obviously a shotgun is going to work well. The best SMG for up close and personal is the Vesper but can be difficult to control the recoil. To a degree its also about the Perks. If you are not using Dead Silence and maybe Blast Suppressor too, then enemies will hear you coming before you get into range. Ghost will keep you off the radar as long as you keep moving and Awareness will help you hear enemy movements - if you use a headset - Headset is almost essential especially for CQC style play. Quickdraw is essential if you ADS, Laser Sight if you hipfire. Grip can help with managing recoil. Generally though the faster the fire rate, the more recoil and the less easy to hit targets at range but quicker they can kill in CQC where SMG's are concerned. The Kuda is certainly one of the better SMG's for all round SMG style play.

I don't know what options there are for customising the controller. I tend to play where R3 is my duck but that can help with keeping alive in the heat of battle - drop shotting an enemy makes you a much smaller target to hit and having that on R3 means I can do that and keep my thumb on the stick to aim. I heard that the PS4 does enable button remapping but I haven't needed to do so. I know the XB1 has this option as I have the Elite and used it to remap the paddles but I don't know where this feature is on the PS4.

Yeah but is it even plausible to hip fire in a game like Black Ops III? I have yet to get dead silence as I am only level 43 atm.

I'm not finding much to enjoy in this game in all honesty, the PVP is just same old same old, fun for a few maps then just more looping the map until you get fragged in the back. Zombies seems okay. The campaign is horrendous. Like really bad. I'm on perhaps the 6th mission, I don't have a clue what's going on. Am I in a simulation or what? How can you guys put so many hours into this?! lol Destiny is far and away the better multiplayer FPS!

@kyleforrester87: The problem with Destiny is the same thing with any MMO you can't just pick it up and play it. With Black Ops 3, I can jump in play a few matches and call it a day. Can't do that in Destiny. But as the saying goes to each his own.

@Tasuki: But you can do that with Destiny.. 30 minutes for a few bounties, a strike or a heroic mission, or some PVP. Destiny is just as good in shorter bursts in my opinion. Much like Diablo, a couple of rifts or adventures or a whole 6 hours doing a bit of everything. Actually I'd argue Destiny is better in shorter bursts and the problem is people play it like a MMORPG and expect endless content.

Granted, CODs PVP is better (more refined) but with everything else Destiny has going for it it's without a doubt a better multiplayer FPS in my mind.

I know nothing I could say would make you try Destiny but given your new found enjoyment of COD, and knowing you love Diablo, I'd put money on you loving Destiny if you played it.

@kyleforrester87: Lol I see your point. I don't know, I would have to check it out but honestly I am not the best at FPS and in a raid like setting I would feel like I am letting my teammates down. Also I am kinda afraid to play something like Destiny. It's odd but after years of playing World of Warcraft I am afraid to play a game with as much to do as Destiny. Also the big thing with Black Ops is that I can play it with my son in the same room.

@Tasuki: I think Destiny does a pretty good job of providing plenty of content for casual players and harder content for those more willing. I'm pretty useless at some of the more complex aspects of the raids.

The split screen is a big plus for COD too, you're right.

For me, Destiny is a game I can play solo and almost always have something to do - even if I have no need to complete bounties, collect resources etc. As a co-op experience, the Raid's are some of the best available on console. However I can't stand the PvP, its far too slow and unless you play with certain classes, it can be very frustrating too. At the end of each match, its purely luck if you get anything from it. You also come up against people who got lucky with their 'drops' with weapons, armour that have better perks than yours and NO set way to achieve these - just pure luck!
Black Ops 3 can be played solo across every aspect. Its campaign is a little confusing but with the XP, unlockable progression system and various challenges, it does give a bit more replayability and a slightly different experience too. The Zombie mode adds a different take on it too and playing with others changes things again.
Zombies is a fantastic co-op experience - especially if you are trying to get certain things achieved and survive to higher rounds. Its full of little easter eggs as well as a massive one too. Its possible to play it solo but its much more fun co-operatively although I do think it doesn't have the 'roles' that Raids do and lacks the same co-operative experience but its still good fun.
MP is good fast paced fun. Its better to play with friends but even solo, it has enough challenges to be working on and its unlikely you will go 3-4 matches without unlocking something. Most of the time I am playing Solo, I am working towards some challenge (like Camo's, character skins), unlocking some attachment, reticle etc and earning Crypto keys as well. There is a much better progression and reward system in BO3 to that of Destiny. It has more modes too - meaning if I get a bit bored or fed up with a certain mode, switching to another can change the flow and even some of the 'frustration' I maybe having. Too many campers and spawn flips in TDM or Kill Confirmed, switch to Domination.
I doubt Black Ops 3 will get the same number of hours put into it that I have in Destiny. Most of that though is because of the 'grind' in Destiny to acquire certain Gear. In BO3, there is a set rule to attain pretty much everything. I know there is a few 'random' cosmetics that have no set rule to acquire - just need luck in the Black Market but if I want to unlock a certain weapon, perk, character I know exactly what level I need to get to or can permanently unlock it when I prestige. Camo's and Character gear are unlocked by certain but consistent challenges, weapon attachments by just using a weapon.
Each to their own of course. What suits one, doesn't suit another and shows that even within a genre (FPS in this case), there can still be a lot of differences to suit a variety of different players.

I guess it comes down to me not finding the PVP very interesting. The only PVP I've ever thoroughly enjoyed was CS, and I think that was down to the fact you couldn't take advantage of your spawn points to catch players from behind. If you knew the map in CS you'd always, up to a certain point in each round, know where your enemies should be and you'd formulate your tactics around that knowledge. If you got killed in CS, you messed up, and it was possible to not die at all in a game. In Black Ops and most other FPS's it's just about killing as many as you can until you inevitably die in, potentially, the cheapest way possible.

Maybe then I should take a look at the different modes available in BO3 since I'm basing my opinion on death match and team death match only.

kyleforrester87

In just 1-2 of the modes the main objective is to get more 'kills' than the enemies - this just the 'death-match' or 'free for-all' mode. In 'Kill Confirmed', the objective is collect more Tags than the opposition. These modes though can have Spawn Flips and are a bit less predictable. Domination has more rigid Spawn Dynamics and as a result is more predictable - particularly if playing in a team.
If you want the more CS type game mode then I recommend Search and Destroy. Its a one life per round and like CS the objective is to plant a Bomb. Only 1 person can pick up the Bomb at a time (if they get killed, they drop the bomb where they died) and they have a choice of 2 bomb sites. Rounds are over if the bomb blows up, the enemy diffuses or all team members are dead. Spawns are very rigid as you always spawn in exactly the same place at the start of each round and on opposite sides of the map. Obviously the same rules apply as to knowing, within reason, where the enemy could be...

@kyleforrester87: Yeah the co-op is a big thing for me. In fact when I did the beta for Destiny that was the deal breaker for me. Also like I said I would get suck into the raids and grinding for better loot, I have already been there done that with WoW and a game like that just sucks up my gaming time and I have no time for any other games. Now if I have that MMO grindfest craving I just play Diablo and that takes care of that.

@Tasuki: fair does that, I don't mind an addictive game but I tend to stop when it's becoming too much. Diablo got a bit like that at one point, had a long break! It's nice if you can just dip in and out, though.

@kyleforrester87: The funny thing was I didn't realize how addicted I was till I stopped playing it (mainly due to financial reasons). For so many years that was the only game I would play as a result I missed out on a lot of great games for all three systems last gen. Since I stopped playing WoW I am able to play a huge variety of games and honestly I have played so far more PS4 games then I played Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 games last gen which if you think about it is sad actually. Heck I have even able to give my retro collection much love as well lol.

But yeah I won't go down that road again and now tread lightly with games like Destiny.

So I think after tonight I am taking a bit of a break from Black Ops 3, I am just getting discouraged as of late. It's hard to explain but I don't see myself getting better overall. May I might try hitting level 55 and unlocking everything, but right now I just need a break.
