My friend started to play Uncharted and now he really likes videogames. About your friend, he could play Uncharted Collection on easy/casual mode, the games are full of action and really exciting, he will probably like the cutscenes too.

I'm not sure, but i would recommend Uncharted Collection and then Uncharted 4 (casual/easy mode)
FPS and racing games are a great way to start too, i believe.

I'd naturally recommend Uncharted. Uncharted 2 is the game that turned me from a 'casual' gamer to someone that plays all types of games. Prior to it I was only interested in the yearly sports games (WWE, FIFA/PES, NFS).
If his reaction speeds aren't up to scratch yet I'd definitely recommend getting started with a turn-based RPG like Persona 5 or Child of Light (if he enjoys these kinds of games).

Go for a bit of Persona 5. Stress free learning a new controller playing that as you can take as long as you like if I recall correctly.

@PS_Nation yup we gonna try UC4 with aim assist. Thanks.
@Fight_Teza_Fight interesting! Yea child of light is amazing i'll suggest it to him as well.
@KratosMD i got none of these games
@LieutenantFatman as amazing as P5 is, he won't have the time for a 100 hour playthrough, am gonna stick to a smaller game. Thanks!
@splat nice to know u got ur father into gaming!! Diablo 3 sounds like a great choice as others also suggested it. Thanks

I can talk for hours about TLOU and Bloodborne

What about Helldivers? It's a simple twin stick shooter, sci-fi themed (think Starship Troopers) that has a single player and co-op (up to 4 players) campaign. The only thing you should researched is if people are still playing it since its' a pretty old game.

Huntin' monsters erryday.

@Jorjk I agree with @Fight_Teza_Fight on Child of Light as well. Great co-op that helped my partner get more into video games as well.

All in all fun topic to read what everyone would define as a 'game for a newcomer', it varies wildly apparently.

@WanderingBullet Helldivers? No way is that newbie friendly IMO. Perhaps in the very early levels. It gets pretty damn tough juggling all your perks in the heat of combat while managing your reloads and friendly fire.

Diablo 3 - now that's an easier alternative.

@Kidfried hahaha yes I got everything from racers to ARPGs to walking sims, very interesting
@WanderingBullet haven't played it myself

Maybe a fighting game? There are a lot of great titles at the moment and they are usually 'easy to learn, difficult to master'.
