Topic: Anyone else hooked on Dead Cells?

So, I picked up the physical copy of Dead Cells last week and it's fair to say, I am utterly addicted to the game.

More than anything else, it's the controls that stand out to me, it 'feels' perfect, it is just so responsive and tight. I have played a lot of these kinds of rogue-ish games with Galak-Z, Spelunky and Binding of Isaac being my faves but I think Dead Cells will easily join this list of favourites.

I watched Patrick Klepic play a couple of runs and he seems to be getting epic drops somewhat frequently, I haven't had one in around 20 hours of play which bugs me a little😁, but this game is great to watch too. The thing I love most is that even on a poor run, I feel like I have made progress, chipping away at another unlock or finding a new blueprint etc.

What an incredible game, is anyone else playing currenly?

I’ve had about 40 runs and made the final boss a few times but got nowhere near killing him.

With regards to “epic” drops (you mean colourless ones?), after each of the boss fights you can use your cells to increase the rate of rare drops. I think I have a 10-15% chance now so if I get to the castle I normally have a colourless melee weapon.

I have reached the 2nd boss a few times but got my butt handed to me, I am juggling this with Nioh at the moment so I haven't been pouring all my focus on Dead Cells, too many great games, not enough hours in the day.....still, it's a lovely problem to have I suppose.

I'm playing on very hard difficulty at the moment. It is very hard, no doubt about that!

Preference for having a chance against the final boss is some decent turrets and some ways to freeze such as ice bow or ice crossbow. But I'm sure there are other ways to win.

@LieutenantFatman
I am all about Ice weapons/powers, my most successful runs have always been with Ice Blast.

I am gradually unlocking new gear and powers and now consistently beat The Concierge, game gets tough unless you get a colourless drop though.

Haven't played yet, but on my short list of "to play next". I'm glad it is as good as it looks.

@LieutenantFatman Turrest are great, particularly if they ignite enemies, or give offensive/defensive bonuses next to them. Works well combined with the mutation that gives bonus offensive stats next to your deployed items.

My current run is through the graveyard so I've been to every area. I accidentally found the architects key down there which seems to have been a right pain for most people to find as it's hidden in a wall randomly.

I've made a start on Dead Cells, and I have to say, it really does feel great to play. None of my runs so far have been very successful, but I've only played it for maybe a couple of hours altogether. Seriously addictive though! Itching to play more

This is my 1st rogue like and I’m totally addicted to this game! Beat the last boss finally after getting to him about 8 times, stacking up on items that reduce damage taken makes the fight 1000% easier. The max damage reduction is 75%, for the 1st completion I would aim for that!

I’m not a Rogue-like fan usually, but I keep hearing about this and I’m tempted to try it one day.

It really is fantastic squire and I feel like each run achieves something, even if it just adding some cells (ingame currency) towards an unlockable item or skill. You dont ever feel like you have wasted time at the end of a run.
