Ya second game is looking the better game so far, I love how you can now skip to the quest givers once you've finished a quest rather than having to walk all the way back found that a minor annoyance in the last game, I think the use of Valimar is well done too, used sparingly enough that it's exciting to use

The First Trails in the Sky game is available on Steam for PC now I believe, I honestly say it's worth checking out, any old laptop should be able to run it
That sucks that it's been removed on PSN, makes no sense when their keeping the second chapter on there :/

Also pro-tip for those of you trying to earn the platinum trophy for both Trails of Cold Steel games. Scan every enemy using a Battle Scope or Eliot or Emma's Detector skills as there's a trophy for scanning every enemy including bosses and one-shot sidequest and school/guild quest monsters.

Also do NOT sell any of the books you find as there's a trophy for collecting all of those as well.

Cheers for the tip @Reanfan7 but I missed way too many trophies to go for the plat!! I played it on easy as well because I didn't want to do all the grinding involved in most JRPGs, just wanted to enjoy the story.
Like Kratos said; there should be a tracker in the game for trophies though, way too easy to miss stuff

@KratosMD Completely agree, I see the two games as one big game split in two, they actually should have called them part 1 and part 2 because it makes much more sense. 1 is absolutely a primer for the second and third game, you can look at then as a trilogy in the truest sense, they're meant to be consumed in order I'm up to act two (which is actually like act 3, you'll see what I mean in the game) and the story is just frenetic, so much stuff is happening in a short space it's great!! Also the second game really heavily implies who is Reans canon girlfriend

Nope, it must be an issue with the Vita version as that scene changes depending on your dance partner in the first game on the PS3 version of the game...

Ya I choose Emma as my dance partner in the first game and it seems to had little impact on the second game :/ Game is kinda pushing Alisa as your gf :/ don't mind just found it odd @KratosMD

This game keeps getting better and better, it introduces a couple of cool mechanic in the middle of the game that are similar to Suikoden from the ps1, pretty cool addition

I'm at Act 2 part 2 or 3 and all I'm going to say is there's some cool surprises in store ya the whole Crow thing is weird, I think it would kinda weird if they welcomed him back, the guy carried out an assassination for christ sake not to mention all the kidnappings interesting to see how Falcom will play it but I'd find it weird if it all ended happily ever after where Crow's concered

@KratosMD Sorry for being off-topic again, but to parrot @Hego's question is KratosMD your PSN ID? I'd like to add you to my friends list. My PSN ID is Rukiafan7 btw.

On-Topic: Not all is as it seems, don't be surprised if everything you think you know isn't actually true.

@Hego @KratosMD It looks like Trails of Cold Steel III will be releasing in NA & EU in Q1 2018! Also the developer is considering releasing a complete collection of the trilogy on Switch as well!

@KratosMD Ya the whole powers thing is very cool, it's great that it can be used as a S-Craft rather than just having it as a story beat, interweaves the cutscenes with the gameplay really well I think
Ya the story just gets better and better, Act 2 has been awesome so far, some really cool stuff happening

@KratosMD Ya I love the whole team building mechanic as well, gives you a great excuse to track down students and see how they've fared since the war started, really clever idea I thought

@KratosMD Have exactly the same experience, loved Persona 4 Golden on Vita and it instantly became my favourite JRPG even though like you I didn't really enjoy the dungeons. Then I played Trails in the Sky and that became my favourite JRPG because the story was just phenomenal, it didn't have the socialising aspect like Cold Steel but it was still a far better game than Persona I felt, better combat, a more interesting cast that you couldn't help but get attached to, an interesting world to explore and easily a far better story (it was honestly sensationally good). Then I played Cold Steel and that has become my favourite JRPG simply because it does everything that Trails-Sky did but added the socialising mechanics from Persona. In hindsight I think I loved Persona for two reasons; the pokemon-esque mechanic of acquiring Personas and having a team to work with and the socializing aspect with characters that were well written and felt human. The actual gameplay loop of running through dungeons wasn't that great or interesting (wasn't bad though to be fair) while the "world" of P4 wasn't that amazing, it was cool but just that. Compared to the Trails games, it felt somewhat small and limited.
After all that, the way Cold Steel 2 is going its shaping up to take over top spot in my fave JRPGs, its improved in several great ways over Cold Steel 1 and introduced several cool mechanics to freshen things up. The story is arguable better too I'd say but that could easily be subjective
