I've been visiting this site for around four years now. And I really wouldn't have been such a loyal visitor if Push Square wasn't that good of a site. It's one of the few sites for which I disabled my ad blocker too. The quality of writing is very high and I love how it's not as America focused as so many sites around.

I noticed there wasn't anything of a thread to give positive feedback. So, I hope it's ok, if I make one.

Just wanted to say that I'm very happy that the site has a message board. Many news sites dropped them entirely, but I think the forums really benefit the community here. They're well moderated and I often read nice insights or impressions on games on there. Keep it up!

Also, I stumbled upon this message today, upon posting on the forums:

Woah, hold on there sunshine - didn't you already post that message?

There aren't many sites around that address me as 'sunshine', so thank you!

@Kidfried Here, here! Totally agree with you, my friend. I don’t have near the longevity on the site as you and many other veterans on here, but I having been browsing the site for a couple years, despite only signing up for an account less than a year ago. I would google for information on games and frequent end up on Push Square. Usually it was googling toward the end of the month searching for info on the next PS plus games and Push Square would always have an article and lots of comments that I enjoyed reading and eventually I started reading everything and interacting too. Now I basically feel no need to check other sites usually because it’s all here and the people here are head and shoulders above the rest of the net. (Except for that grumpy @kyleforrester87 character 😉 ) But seriously, cheers to all the regulars on here. I enjoy all the comments and insights.
The few trolls on here are pretty harmless usually, or they are dealt with pretty well by everyone and the excellent moderating.
Speaking of, if we are reminiscing on favorite posts, one that comes to mind for me was from @Neolit a couple months ago when someone posted a rather vicious statement in a ‘Best PS4 Games List’ article stating “This list sucks, this site sucks, and the humor sucks also” and Neo replied “Yo dawg! Calm down and show me on this Crash Bandicoot doll where Push Square touched you. It’s okay, it’s not your fault” 😂
Apparently it was an effective retort because like most trolls, the guy appears to have faded away with all his negativity and contention.
Also a shout out to all the users and staff who have got me onto a lot of games I’d never have played otherwise, and for reliably making me smile, laugh, and ponder new things everyday.

> And as a completely separate and only partially related subject. I would recommend, or if someone know if it already exists, an article or thread about the formatting and shortcut tricks that we can use in the comments and forums. I figured out on my own how to bold and italics subscripts and superscripts and insert images, but I see stuff like inserting a line in a message and doing quotes that I would be interested to learn.

I agree. Whenever I searched for gaming news this site would always grab my attention the most, so I had to join. Great job Push Square staff.

@Th3solution For a line, type three hyphens (-) without spaces in between them:

I believe this is a thing as well. Use (del)insert text(/del), but replace the round brackets with square brackets ''[ ]''.

And you can also do a subscript by using (sub)insert text(/sub).

And a superscript: (sup)insert text(/sup).

And underscore too!: (u)insert text(/u).

Quote: (quote)insert text(/quote), replace the round brackets with square brackets ''[ ]'':

Hello!

Quote with author: (quote=insert name)insert text(/quote), same rules apply as above:

Hello again!

Images and GIFs: (img)insert URL(/img), again replace the round brackets with square brackets ''[ ]''. Posting a .jpg link on its own creates a link to pop-up screen of the image (useful for large images):

http://pngimg.com/uploads/hello/hello_PNG24.png

Links work the same as images, but replace ''img'' with ''url'', although I believe this site also recognises links on its own. YouTube video URLs embed the YouTube video. It used to be (youtube:W2Wnvvj33Wo), where the second part is the URL code that comess after /watch?v= in the URL. Tweets, same applies, just copy the link of the Tweet.

Lastly you can also turn words in a link, like this. The code is: (url=insert URL)insert text(/url), and once again replace the round brackets with square brackets ''[ ]''.

I think that's all...!

@Octane oooooh. Perfect. That’s very helpful.

This sites the best! Been part of many communities in the past, but this one is the only one that I've stuck with.
I'm approaching 2 years on the site next week (6th Feb)!

Great job @pushsquarestaff!

For me, this site just feels like an incredibly genuine and 'human' place. I mean human in the sense that so many other sites feel quite corporate or having an agenda in some way. Here it's the opposite. Lots of very engaged and knowledgeable gamers come together and chat about the stuff they like (and don't!).

I think the biggest thing, and is related to the 'human' aspect i mentioned, is that the reviewers and editors are very engaged with the community they have built up over the years. It's great! I live in Japan so i'm hours ahead but i know that when i wake up each morning, i have 10 hours of gaming news to catch up on and this place is my first port of call

I've been visiting this site since 2013, around when the PS4 was about to launch, but something about the site made me feel like making an account in 2014. Barring a internet-less enforced break in summer 2016, I've been here every day since, even if I don't post as much as other regulars. I'm trying to fix that though.

This community really is pretty good. Yeah, we have our arguments at times, and there are sometimes a few jerks who make accounts just to be jerks, but usually we chill out and make up afterwards and the riffraff go away after getting laughed out the door. It's certainly better than most communities I've seen, where it's downright toxic, joyless, or franky, stupid.

And yeah, thanks to the staff for all the hard work getting the news here. I know it's thankless work, but massive props for quality news and articles.

I started visiting this website pretty regularly when it was called Movmodo or something like that. I remember the day that PushSquare took over and it's been my go-to gaming site since. It's been fun watching the website grow and it's also cool that there's still a core group that's been here for what seems like a long time now eventhough this place is still relatively new compared to NL.

I would credit PushSquare as one of the things that really rekindled my love of gaming. During the last gen, I got slightly burnt out and bored of games. I was not paying much attention to many games outside of prominent AAA releases and not really buying much. I got a PS4 in early 2015 and started reading PushSquare soon after and joined later that year. Moving back to the PlayStation after the 360, PushSquare helped highlight a lot of classics I had missed and also got me into indie scene. Reviews are fair and not full of hyperbole, articles are fun with lots of personality and the community is honestly great. Everyone is polite and even if things get heated, it tends to result in an apology rather than insults and death threats. I have also had some great recommendations that have become my favourites of all time. So thanks to everyone!

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

I started posting here after CVG went under. In hindsight that place was pretty toxic. I prefer the daddy day care vibe this place has got going on

I don't remember how I first reached Push Square but I immediately liked the vibe of the people in the comment sections... I really like you guys!
The taste of the staff seems to be very different from mine and there are a couple of other sites on the web that I check out just for the "if this guy likes it, I will like it" assurance. But this is the place I come to read comments and news (and reviews of course, I can appreciate another perspective) and just hang out

I started visiting Nintendo Life around 2011, then I noticed it had sister sites Push Square and Pure Xbox. These sites have been my mains for years now. I rarely visit ign with it’s somewhat annoying comment section. I wish this site would cover a little more SNK or other retro games, but I enjoy what Sammy and the others do around here. Keep it up fellas.

I used to get my PlayStation news from PSM3/4 magazine, then the CVG site when printed mags became old skool. Luckily I discovered Push Square when CVG closed down and never needed anywhere else. Great site, great staff and great community. Word up son.
