I hardly see any ads listed... ever. I have no ad blocker at all too. I've had trouble with ads ever since my first visit to Push Square back in 2014 (from different computers too).
I'm just listing this, because I really want my clicks to support this site.

It might have something to do with me not being from the UK or US and therefore not seeing any relevant ads? I must admit I have no idea how they work.
If this is how it should properly work, then... well, that might be. However, I do find the huge blank spaces everywhere on the site quite annoying. I might even rather see ads than those.
@Kidfried thanks for the info - we've had our ad guys look into it and apparently it's all working as expected, just not a lot of ads in your country... but thanks for letting us know!
@antdickens Thanks for the quick reply. Major coincidence: today, for the first time since the summer, the ads are back. Unfortunately, they are Xbox X ads...
