If someone could help me it would be grateful. When I turn my PS4 slim on it tells me to connect the controller and when I do. It says please wait while we check the system. So I do. Then it says error the usb storage device isn't connected. I don't know what to do and cause when I press ok to continue onto the home screen it turns the console off. Could anyone tell me what to do??? PLEASE.
Do you have an external drive setup as external storage? Is it unplugged? If not, did you buy the PS4 used maybe?

No I haven't unplugged anything from it. When ever I turn it on it says error usb storage device not connected. I bought it brand new a year ago from john Lewis
What you’re describing sounds like the steps you go through to put for PS4 system software onto a new hard drive. Plug-in controller plus press the PlayStation button. insert USB flash stick containing system software. I’m assuming you haven’t just installed a new hard drive? @Codie233

I too have the same problem that codie233 has , have not used ps4 for months, says usb storage not connected, does a check on it ,then shuts down, is this a easy fix?
