Topic: PlayStation 4 Pro download speed issue

So I was checking the download speed for my PS4 Pro console and since I have Verizon Fios quantum high speed internet ( goes up to 900 Mbps) insane quality, my PS4 Pro download speed was jumping from 400 to 90Mbps , sometimes 25 Mbps to 300Mbps, or even stayed around 120Mbps which was very strange since I have connection with Ethernet cable. So I called Verizon Fios service and they commented that it could be the issue with console itself since they checked from their end that download speed was consistent at 900Mbps and everything was fine. I followed their instructions to check speed on my laptop and surprise surprise the download speed was showing over 900 Mbps. So I am starting to wonder if there is issue going on with PlayStation network itself. I examined with laptop and the agent checked from his end and both download speed was fine. Whats going on? How can I fix this?

Close everything on the PS4 and start the download.

Fresh boot and don't start any applications. Any game or app running on PS4 is designed to make PSN downloads crawl to ensure smooth running.

The inbuilt PS4 speedtest is also pretty inaccurate.

This. So very this.

My best friend often says that PS4 downloads are taking forever, and then I ask her what else her console is doing and she says "not a lot, just Netflix and I've got a game suspended and I haven't powered it down in months". It's a general rule for all technology, but ask it to do one thing at a time and give it a good, long rest when you're not using it.

Also, sometimes you can luck out when requesting data from Sony's servers and still get a slow download speed (especially if you're trying to download a game or a patch at launch). If that happens, pause and resume the download, and your data request will be refreshed.

Best of luck!
