Topic: DS4 won't connect to PS4 after pairing with phone

I paired my DS4 with my Pixel 2 and now the DS4 only ever looks for my phone!

I have told my phone to forget the DS4, I have reset the DS4, I have restarted the PS4 in safe mode, I have connected the DS4 with USB to multiple ports.

The DS4 glows orange as if charging but then when I press the PS button it just flashes white searching. The only thing it will pair with is my phone still!

How do I fix this!? I've tried everything it's insane!

Have you tried the following sequence:

Turn off your PlayStation 4.

Connect your DualShock 4 controller to a USB cable that is connected to your PlayStation 4.

Press and hold the PlayStation button on the center of your controller. This will prompt the controller to resync at startup.

Good luck!

Don’t you need to push a pin in to the little hole on the back of the DS4 to reset that, too? I’m sure if you do that then PS4 will just treat it like a brand new controller out the pack.

I had this problem too and all i did was turn Bluetooth off on my phone, made sure the controller was off and then connected it to the ps4. The light was then the normal blue colour and the ps4 recognised it.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Cheers for the responses. Yeah I've tried all of those.

Pressed the controller reset button multiple times. Have tried turning PS4 on using the controller plugged in and pressing and holding (just keeps searching until I turn my phone bluetooth on and then it connects to that).

And my phone bluetooth is off and I've told it to forget the controllers.

Worst thing is I paired both my controllers to my phone and they're both doing this. So now I can only play my PS4 through my phone screen

@TPk if you can use your phone to navigate to the bluetooth devices section in settings, you can try pairing to the PS4 via bluetooth. In theory - this should supersede the controller's connection to your phone.

@KALofKRYPTON Have just had a look and from what I can see my only options are to view the connected controllers (it says 'Push PS button to use' but that still doesn't work) or tell the PS4 to forget each controller. Tried doing that but both controllers still just charge when connected but search for my phone.

Done it!! After forgetting the controllers on my PS4, I then had to press the PS button and Sharing to get them to pair over bluetooth rather than the cable and then my PS4 allowed me to pair them.

That might have been what you were suggesting @KALoKRYPTON. Cheers.

@TPk That's it yeah. I thought that would work.

My DS4 that I connected to my old Z2 tablet did that on occasion. If you have a PSTV, it's even easier as connecting a DS4 to that via USB seems to pretty much override everything.
