I hope somebody else knows what I'm talking about. In 2016 my family purchased an original PS4, as in, the ones first released in 2013 up until 2016 when they were discontinued and replaced by the Slim and Pro models, respectively. Early on and still to this day, we have always had a huge issue with the LAN/Ethernet cable. The issue being, even when it is plugged in, activated, and all is in working order, it still believes it is not plugged in. Constantly we get the message "LAN cable not connected." and it is absolutely frustrating. I cannot play PS Now games for even 10-15 at a time without it dropping out randomly and the game shutting down. Sometimes it just won't even load because it thinks the LAN cable is gone. I've read up on a lot of this and none of the issues people say it is are effecting us. But the LAN cable is /very/ loose when it plugs in. It wobbles even though it clicked all the way into the port. So I have this feeling it is less to do with anything external, and more internal on the PlayStation's part.
I'm reminded of when in the past, my father did much research on this and found the error to be on Sony's part, in which the PS4 original was faultily designed so that the Ethernet cable does not plug in properly and therefore does not think it's plugged in at all. This causes the connection to drop in and out as one moment the cable is running fine and the next it falls loose. He found an interesting tidbit on a forum where one person was saying the solution was to put a piece of paper the size of the slot inside, and it would balance it out. We tried it and it does indeed work, and it worked for a long time. Lately however, it doesn't seem to work anymore. But the fact this is a problem other people experienced and had their own solutions for has led to my question:
Is this a model-wide issue or was it just in select units? And is this one of the reasons they discontinued the PS4 original and replaced it entirely?

I own a launch day PS4 and have it connected with a cable since day one and never had that message while the cable is plugged in. Therefore it's probably your cable, or modem that's the problem not the PS4.
