Retuned control sensitivity and compatibility with the Playstation 3’s analogue stick makes BreakQuest a much better proposition.
We were very disappointed with Beatshaper’s BreakQuest first time around. After posting a 1/4 score for the launch-day Mini, Beatshaper’s founder Alexey Menshikov was keen to get in touch and assure us an updated version of the game was incoming. The problem was not the game, but the horrifically twitchy nature of the controls, that, to be honest, were just straight up borked.
The updated version, available now, totally fixes the control issues, and is also fully compatible with Firmware 3.15’s Playstation 3 emulation. In fact, as improved as the controls are on the PSP’s nub, they really come into their own on the DualShock 3’s analogue stick, where it finally feels like Beatshapers finally hit the sweet spot.
Now, with controls that don’t leave you banging your head against the nearest wall, we can safely say BreakQuest is a worthy Minis purchase. There’s tons of content, some amazing physics and some truly brilliant level design. All for just £2.49.
