Guess What Playstation Games I’m Playing This Christmas – “Twiggy” The PushSquare Opinionator

I like light-gun games. I’ve already played House Of The Dead: Overkill on the Wii this year, and I’d kinda planned to play Dead Space: Extraction and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles over Christmas. I’ve changed my mind though. Wii light-gun games just don’t feel right do they? I mean, they’re close, but they’re more point-and-click than anything. I want some real light-gun action this Christmas. So hell yes; I’ve bought Time Crisis for PSone.
I’ve never actually played any of the PSone light-gun games, so you’re probably sitting here laughing at me right now. I think I can hear you. “The PSone Time Crisis port is fucking terrible,” I can hear you chortling. Well it actually doesn’t matter, because, there’s one other game compatible with the G-Con, and that’s Point Blank.
Does anyone remember Point Blank? Namco’s random-ass mini-game shoot ‘em up? I think I’ve only played it once in an arcade, but dude, that game has lived with me forever. I’m really looking forward to picking up a copy of that and its sequel for like, what, the 20pence they sell for these days.
I’m really interested in Elemental Gearbolt lastly. I hadn’t heard of the game until the other day but it looks properly ridiculous. A fantasy lightgun game. Dude. They’re meant to be all like, gritty and shootery. Not fantasy.
So yeah, while you’re playing Borderlands or Uncharted or whatever, I’m gonna play PSone shooter games. I might even come back with a Golden Oldies review.
