We still can’t believe Guitar Hero 5 sold better than the fantastic The Beatles: Rock Band. It literally blows our mind. But thankfully Activision’s Guitar Hero business CEO Dan Rosensweig is on hand to explain exactly what happened:

“The number one thing about Guitar Hero is that it’s fun as hell — it’s focused on the guitar, and the variety and value proposition — and the reviews are spectacular. So I guess we’re the only ones not surprised.”

Hmmm. Dan went on to joke with GamesIndustry.biz that “internally we always talked about the Fab Five – Guitar Hero 5 – was going to beat the Fab Four.” Hahaha-no.

    I think 3brettb3 is referring to vgchartz.com where it list world wide sales of video games. Beatles:RB beats GH5 even though GH5 has been out an extra week.

    For some reason, GH5 beats RB:B in England only.

    Your information is simply incorrect. Yes, GH5 beat the Beatles: Rock Band in the UK, but worldwide and in the US, it's the other way around. And it's not particularly close. The Activision guy is selling you a bag of goods.
