Sony's VAIO W Will Provide Support For The Playstation Network.

Remember when Howard Stringer said Sony were planning to roll out the Playstation Network into a number of their devices? Guy wasn’t lying. Sony’s new VAIO W laptop will feature 100% support for the Playstation Network.

Despite hinting that “games are a possibility”, Sony will use the Playstation Network integration to roll out their TV and movie delivery services onto the laptop.

But man, imagine how awesome it would be if you could play your PSN games on your PS3, PSP and laptop. Surely it would be possible for the laptop to sync up a DualShock? Seeing as they’re available from stores it would give non-PS3 owners access to PSN games aswell. Plus it’s not like a DualShock defeats the portable nature of a laptop; they’d easily fit in a carry bag.

Still, we think perhaps we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

I wonder if they will do a retro-fit to other Sony Vaio's? I have 3 (VGN-FZ18, VGN-S5M and my pride and joy VGN-UX390N) and would be very interested in seeing where this go's.

Makes you wonder if they will do some software to allow the DualShock to connect to a PC without a hack?

"the more people that see it, the more likely they are to buy it right?"

    Couldn't agree more.
  • It would make sense for them to market the smaller PSN games on the PC too. Something like the PixelJunk series should run fine and would be great for non-PS3 owners.

Although I guess at the moment the whole movie compatibility should be their focus.

No mention of any retro compatibility. I don't see why they wouldn't roll that out either though. Especially considering Sony are trying to make their stuff more profitable -- the more people that see it, the more likely they are to buy it right?
