The Beatles: Rock Band Will Be Unaffected By MJ's Death.

The death of Michael Jackson has come as a shock to us all. But now the dust is settling we can start to look towards a future without the King Of Pop and how his death will affect the release of the upcoming Playstation title, The Beatles: Rock Band.

See, one of Michael Jackson’s more profitable assets is the ownership of over 200 songs from The Beatles’ repertoire. Michael joined with Sony to form the Sony/ATV Music Publishing Company who own the publishing rights to much of The Beatles’ back catalogue.

Fortunately Harmonix recently confirmed to IGN that the game’s tracks won’t be compromised by MJ’s death, or the dispersal of his assets — including the Sony/ATV stake — that will take place in the coming weeks.

So if you’re excited for the game, just chill. It’s on its way.

    So hold on?!
If Sony/ATV owns the rights to those beatles songs does this means that Sony are making money over the sales of the Xbox 360 versions?
  • You'd assume so yes. It's a bit like the Ghostbusters/James Bond video games scenario too.
